My "takeaway" is that way over 50% of the Facebeook users who took this poll like Palin, would vote for her, and believe she'll beat O'Bunghole.

Nothing more, nothing less. Those who need to distort or misrepresent this simple truth, by so doing, display decisively their own agenda-driven penchant for dishonsety, total lack of integrity, and need to lie... or the fact that they actually are morons.

But we've known this of them for some time now. No news there.

Rush Limbaugh, John Fund, Jim DeMint are all on record saying they have real doubt Sarah Palin will get into the race. I don’t know why they think that, but they have said so publicly. DeMint said so in an interview on FOX; Fund wrote a whole column on it; and Rush said yesterday on his show he doubts she will run. These are three men’s opinions I respect, since they all use their “Inside Baseball” knowledge expertly before weighing in on any given subject. Given their past track record of forecasting so well, I have to think their comments have some basis in some knowledge, and I will assume it has to do with money. Every candidate by this stage of the game has to have a huge bank of big dollar donors behind them; you can’t play catch up now. If they are correct, then it makes you wonder why she’s been bothering thrusting her name and her self into the public eye? Why rent a bus, paint it with the One Nation Theme, and travel everywhere which happens to be a Primary State?

We will know for sure of her decision in the next 30 days. The deadline for inclusion on the ballot for Florida’s January 31 Primary is October 31st. Unless she decides to forego that Primary and try to get in at some point later - which won’t help her at all. So she’s got 30 days to shore up what no one sees in existence now: a structure of a campaign plan; a staff; and $$$. If Limbaugh, Fund and DeMint are right it’s likely because they can see the money just isn’t there for her (and I’m not speaking of individual contributions - I’m talking about the large financial backers to underwrite the huge expenses of a campaign).

Once again the anal reference from you...you really do have an identity issue, don't you?

btw...we all know full well that you have license to post personal attacks as long as you carry palin's(™) water so I expect more of the same.

Calm down. It's not worth having a coronary over. I'm with you when it comes to support of Sarah, but this poll doesn't necessarily reflect the population at large. The problem with self-selected polls is that the people responding have got to be interested in the subject matter to respond. That doesn't necessarily give you a representative sample of the total population. I do find the fact that 30% say they their opinions have improved to be very interesting though.

I have heard those same three opine on this. Fund I can take or leave... he's been pretty anti-Palin right along. DeMint and Rush I like.

Sarah implied the other night that she felt she might have as much impact and even more leeway if she didn't run for President in 2012.

I disagree 100%, and I told her so. If she doesn't run now, after letting her army of supporters slug it out all these months (she could have said she isn't running months ago), she will lose alot of the political capital she has right now. She'll break America's heart.

I'm certain she knows this, and will announce her candidacy within the next ten days, notwithstanding all due respect to Rush L. and Jim D.

Ah, another anal reference...you really can't help yourself, can you? Have you tried therapy or prayer?

Don't fret though, as I said, we all know that you are in a protected class of freeper as long as you toe the 'palin is our only hope' line.

So, keep up the adolescent homo postings...you are doing FR real proud, and very likely helping to let off a little conflicted pressure so your head doesn't explode.

OK. Sounds like you have the right perspective on the facebook poll, that it is entirely meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

It was my mistake in thinking you actually believed it meant something. My bad.

I saw her Greta interview the other night, and agree with you that she’s wrong thinking she’ll carry the same clout she does now if she sits this one out. I posted that much on the thread about her using the non existent word “shackle-y”. She’s even farther up the creek if any Republican wins the White House next year - no one will care much what she thinks, mostly because she would have had her chance to get into the fight and risk riding the rapids on what she wants to accomplish for the nation only to pass up her chance. Opting out reduces whatever she says to ankle-biting white noise from the sidelines - so no one will take her seriously. Her influence of today exists precisely because of the mystery surrounding her intentions.

I hope she runs. I want to work for her and support her. But my gut says after watching her on Greta, it sounded like back peddling on her intent to run. She was the one who offered this (lame) idea she can be as influential without the “title” - as though POTUS is just merely a “title”. As always, this will be about money for her. She has no staff in place for any kind of campaign. And the only reason no staff is in place is because there isn’t any money to pay them. If there is no money to pay staff, then there is no money for the much bigger logistical requirements every candidate needs. I think she’s going to make an announcement in the next few weeks too. I just think it’s not gonna be the one I want her to make.

I’m with you. I’ll work for her election in a heartbeat. I’m tired of the old boy politicians. Time to let a real woman and a working mother bring this country into line. I will not vote for Cain, Romney or Perry.

So, how about that Facebook poll, huh? Nearly 70% of all the people on Facebook want Sarah for our next president! Isn't that amazing?!

I thought so, too. BTW, don't be distracted by the anti-Palin trolls who try to hijack these great Palin threads. They're not long for this site, if I don't miss my guess... there isn't a constitution-loving patriot among them, or they'd be backing Palin, too.

(Keep it under your hat.)

"Her influence of today exists precisely because of the mystery surrounding her intentions."

Actually, her influence today derives from the fact that she was a housewife with kids, saw corruption running rampant in her State with the backing of the largest corporation on the planet, the biggest-money industry in existence, and the most deeply-entrenched and corrupt old-boy-network doing their bidding under the State's Capitol Dome.

She decided to take them on, fought them tooth-and-nail, won, and then fitted a bunch of them for State-issued jumpsuits, even as she got legislation passed that enforced the State's constitution, elevated the public weild of her constituents' power and yield of revenue share, and basically gave the largest State in the Union back to the voters.

That's all. Oh, and she did this in half a term as Governor during which she also ran for VP and had a baby.

This is not a woman. This is a force of nature being led by the Hand of God. Sarah is just the instrument. But, if she doesn't run for pres, she'll break alot of very sincere hearts. And it'll cost her some clout.

Cain’s a nice man.

But he has never won so much as a primary election, he has zero government experience, let alone executive political experience, and his platform ranges from a naively bad ‘999’ plan domestically to “I’ll hire the best people to make recommendations on what I should do” for foreign affairs.

Palin by contrast got more done in her time as guv in Alaska than Perry did in 10 years and counting in Texas. She oversaw an extraordinary 10% reduction of the state’s budget over her three years of budgets. She fought and won against corruption within and beyond her party. She earned the highest gubernatorial approval ratings Gallup ever registered.

Cain really isn’t qualified to be president, whereas Palin has an exceptional resume for the office.

“That’s all. Oh, and she did this in half a term as Governor during which she also ran for VP and had a baby.”

None of us is disputing her qualifications, which you rattle off in this response to me. Many of us saw The Undefeated, and we know she’s more than qualified to be President. The issue isn’t whether she’s qualified. The issue is whether she’s going to commit to the fight and run, or to sit on the sidelines. You seem to be bristling with defensiveness, and your recitation of her qualifications is a conflation of two separate issues. No one has forced Sarah Palin to do what she has done all year: act the role of candidate without actually committing to the course as a candidate. No one forced her to go on her Harley Rides with the cameras rolling; no one forced her to go on her bus tour; no one forced her to show up on Straw Poll Day in Iowa; no one forced her to continually visit states on her tour where Primaries are to be held; no one forced her to hire Steve Bannon to create a documentary of her political career. She did all of this electively, on her own. Many of us worked for some of her grass roots groups over the spring and summer. She’s been in the spotlight since 2008, mostly because she embodies the Conservative Spirit of the greatest leaders Conservatism ever had - and she knows it.

If she decides not to run - after orchestrating what amounts to a 3 year stealth campaign - she loses everything she’s worked hard to build. There will be ample criticism of her. “Why” all the posturing for years, then then cut bait at crunch time? Much of the criticism will be justified towards her if she sits out now, after everything she’s done to keep herself relevant, and part of the discussion. She’ll be seen as cashing in on her 2008 fame for 3 years, and then deciding the “fire in her belly” she told Hannity she had in Iowa a mere 30 days ago has now morphed into scrutinizing whether a “title” of “GOP Presidential Nominee” is now necessary for her to keep up her business as usual agenda of “leading” from the sideline. If her own words mean anything, this isn’t the kind of talk that’s inspiring. It sounds like she’s pulling up from the marathon about 100 yards from the finish. Her decision to opt out now justifies some of the criticism she will get, and render any of her opinions on what transpires going forward as just background noise. Her own actions for 3 years say “I’m in”. Her appearance with Greta says “eh, well, maybe not so much that ‘I’m in’, but I still want to be relevant if I sit out”. She’s just not going to be able to have it both ways. Sitting out does more damage to her; but she also is damaged by running for the nomination and losing it. Maybe less damaged by the latter. But definitely damaged by the former.

So this isn’t about whether she’s qualified. It seems she’s been on a 3 year quest - most likely for financial backing of the big dollar donor kind - to fund her aspirations. And those Big Dollar donors are the only way anyone will ever become the nominee for either party. It’s looking like no one stepped up to back her. And that might be the most tragic thing for those of us who want to vote for and work to get her elected.

9YearLurker,

Not a fair comparison *at all*. You make a tidy list of Cain’s perceived negatives (again, I view the fact that he hasn’t held public office as a positive) and then compare that to a list of Palin’s perceived positives.

Gee - who will win that comparison?

This was the point I was trying to make in post #35. What you need to do is list out ALL the qualities of the candidates, then figure out which ones can be twisted negative, and which ones can be twisted positive. Make a fair comparison and find out who comes out on top.

Now - I fully recognize that the final analysis may be a bit different depending on perspective, but the kind of comparison you posted isn’t reasonable at all. (For the record, earlier in this thread I wasn’t posting comparative analysis, just making a declarative statement on who I think is better.)

Let me give you an example. We’ll start with the most basic point to analyze - Are they even a candidate?

Cain: Yes. He has declared his candidacy for the President of the United States. I can’t really think of a counterpoint that stays on the simple topic of candidacy.

Palin: No. She has not yet declared.

[Positive Spin] She’s politically brilliant. She’s playing the media for fools. She understands the game and is taking an unconventional approach that will help her win.

[Negative Spin] She’s afraid to announce early in the process because her opponents will have more time to deconstruct her. She doesn’t want to embarrass herself in the early debates. She’s f**king with the electorate. If she is going to run, why is she too cowardly to announce?

So, on question #1, I give the edge to Cain. At least he’s being straight with the American people. Palin’s decision can be spun both ways, so it comes out to a net-neutral. Plus, she’s not even running. Yet.

Now, take that same process and apply it to other aspects of each “candidate.” Sure, Cain’s 999 plan has some faults, but it also has some pluses. At least he has put a plan out there. Where is Palin’s plan? Where is her candidacy? We rail against Obama for never have specific plans, but I haven’t seen a specific tax reform plan from Palin yet either.

I *like* Palin. The only reason I finally got behind McLame is because he added her to the ticket. After that happened, I donated and put up the yard sign. I think she is a great conservative. I would support her if she happened to win the nomination. I also happen to think it would be more of an uphill battle for her.

It’s primary season, now, though. And Palin is no shoo-in. I’ve done my analysis and have come down on the side of Cain. Take a moment to look past his faults - the excuses you’ll make to continue to support Palin - and you’ll probably find he’s a better candidate, too.

You’re just purposely or congenitally obtuse if you actually believe that Palin hasn’t declared because she’s afraid of the race or wants to jerk around her supporters.

She already has greater name recognition than Cain will finish the race with, there was no reason for her to be in early and there’s lots of good reason for her to wait to get in late: the Dems, media and GOP Establishment would all like to gun for her and overlook their own lame candidates’ records.

However an idiot can spin something is no way to pick a president. Jeesh!
