GOP's Herman Cain The Real Deal !
NSB News ^ | 9/26/11 | Sally Gillies

We left the Orlando Peabody Hotel Friday evening and quick-stepped over to the Rosen Center for a “Meet and Greet” with Presidential candidate Herman Cain. It was scheduled to begin at 7:30 but delayed while management set up a room twice as large to hold the excited Republicans. And still the crowd spilled over.

I had a thought about Herman Cain and the black vote. I have heard on several radio stations references from the black community about Herman calling him an Oreo or Uncle Tom.

Based on this, I doubt that the African American community will swing significantly in his direction. I would be surprised if he increases his margin there by 5%

However, where Herman Cain makes substantial inroads is with independent, middle-of-the-road White voters because he assuages Black Guilt.

I believe that his candidacy will remove the pressure to vote for him or be labelled “Racist”, which, I believe, motivated a large fraction of this group in 2008.

Additionally, of course, he has an admirable character, a sound head on his shoulders and is a Washington outsider at a time when the public has a low opinion of professional politicians!

He has always been my first choice and I thought he didn’t have a chance. He’s catching on, there’s hope!! It would be so wonderful to have someone with common sense as POTUS.

“As we waited in line, someone started singing and pretty soon five or six hundred people were joining in on our national anthem, “America the Beautiful,” “God bless America” and even “Amazing Grace.” It was amazing.”

From the article:

“Of course, the mainstream media thinks it can pick the Republican candidate for president just like they picked McCain in 2008. They have consistently pitted Perry against Romney, but Cain blew them out of the water”

Cain may not like guns, but he won’t mess around with the second amendment.

“Cain is also anti-gun”

BS. Not being lock-step with everything the NRA is for is not being anti-gun. I find lots of proof that Cain stongly supports the 2nd amendment and is NOT anti-gun.

BLITZER: How about gun control?

CAIN: I support the 2nd amendment.

B: So what’s the answer on gun control?

C: The answer is I support, strongly support, the 2nd amendment. I don’t support onerous legislation that’s going to restrict people’s rights in order to be able to protect themselves as guaranteed by the 2nd amendment.

Really?

BLITZER: How about gun control?

CAIN: I support the 2nd amendment.

C: The answer is I support, strongly support, the 2nd amendment. I don’t support onerous legislation that’s going to restrict people’s rights in order to be able to protect themselves as guaranteed by the 2nd amendment.

B: Should states or local government be allowed to control guns, the gun situation, or should…

C: Yes

B: Yes?

C: Yes.

B: So the answer is yes?

C: The answer is yes, that should be a state’s decision.

He doesn't favor the "incorporation" of the 2nd Amendment WRT states and localities. IOW, he believes it binds the Fedgov only. Probably a consistent position for a true Federalist -- the (Federal) Bill of Rights wasn't written to limit the powers of the states, only the powers of the Federal govt.

He doesn't seem to favor gun control at the Federal level.

The libs' successful indoctrination of most of the black community is too deep for it all to change in one election cycle. If it's going to shift, it will do so incrementally.

This guy is great. While Palin dithers around and plays coy, Cain is out there in the game. Forget Sarah Palin. Herman Cain is who America needs right now.

The idea that the Bill or Rights restricts the Fed govt and not the states is bunk. The first Amendment clearly is a set of freedoms FOR the people, freedom of religion, speech, etc. The second is the same. Now, I do believe the states have the ability to regulate gun ownership - registration, waiting periods, etc, but restriction of ownership I believe is not allowed, especially after the recent USSC ruling.

It's NOT about swinging - its all about not showing up to the polls, and right now they are very angry with Obama, and their numbers at the polls in Nov 2012 will drop by huge numbers, I can assure you.

I use to say the first black President will be a Republican. I still stand by that. Too many Americans forget that Obama is half white.

Cain’s roots mirrors most black Americans far more than Obama. Cain’s ancestors were slaves. Obama’s white ancestors owned slaves, and his black family wasn’t even in America until fairly recent.

Cain was raised in a black family in a largely black community, while Obama was raised by white people in a white neighborhood and went to a private school for rich boys in short pants paid for by his white grandma who was Vice President of the largest bank in Hawaii.

The whole reason Barry went to Chicago at the age of 23 was add some “black experience” to his white life.

I agree.

The Constitution, the Bill of Rights, protects Free Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom from Unreasonable Search, Right to Bear arms, etc.

A state can not take away the Right to a Jury Trial, for example.

Sorry, but your wishfull thinking about Cain doesn’t make it so. He supports local gun control, and as far as his comment about supporting the second amendment goes. EVERY anti-gunner starts out saying how they support the second amendment and then the string of buts start. One of the most rabid anti-gunners around Atlanta Cythia Tucker, stated that she supported the second amendment.
