What people don't understand is that the Palin campaign was already started and set up for her years ago. If she wants to run, it is already set up to start in cruise control
she has her unhired unpaid attack dogs in every corner of the internet. She has her positive fans who promote her energy and economic policies. She has people willing to help her in their own free time in all 50 states.
There exists is an organization with no office and no one web site right now. The Palin campaign is open for business on every country road and city street in these United States if she wants it.
Unconventional, yes. But it's not magic. It is not rocket science. In a land of 300 million people, there are still those of us around who want to save the future of our country. We are patriots.
She doesn't need to hire a Lee Atwater or a Karl Rove type or drive across the country in a fancy bus... Everything is right there for the taking..
“The point is Palin would NOT get the nomination.”
No true conservative American patriot cares who the establishment globalist RINO Going On Progressive party nominates.
They have become a treasonous joke just like the democrats.
It would be nice if Palin got the GOP nomination, but the GOP no longer represents the values this country was founded upon.
“3/4 of Republicans dont want her to run...”
Heck...I’d bet 110% of the “Republicans” within the DC Beltway don’t want her anywhere near the place!!!!
Excellent post filbert, surprising you haven't gotten more replies.
There are some hard-shell so-cons here who apparently think Palin is going to tear into the "sodomites" and the Mormons like the apocryphal avenging grizzly. They are reading their views into hers and may be in for some disappointment.
Pissant, is that you?
Nonsense
This is not about religion. This is not about abortion. This is not about gays.
That is not what this is about.
It is about the USA. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights can’t be on the ballot. so Palin is the second best option :)
she has her unhired unpaid attack dogs in every corner of the internet.”
Probably true.
But these attack dogs do not result in a net positive gain in voters. In fact, they probably turn off as many activists as they turn on, or more.
Palin is great; but her condescending, cocky, and downright mean supporters do her campaign real harm.
I’d be eager to hear from anyone here at FR who has turned the corner positively on Palin because of her attack dogs here. Any testimonies in that regard? Anyone out there who was neutral or anti-Palin, but is now pro-Palin because of the FR attack dogs?
Alternatively, what about the opposite? Anyone out there who was formerly pro Palin, but is now thinking, “I don’t want her supporters any closer to the actual workings of government than Ron Paul’s supporters”?
Just curious to see (anecdotally) which group seems to be larger, at least here among FR activists.
(As for me, not that it matters, I just want the GOP to put forth a candidate who can defeat obama, immediately repeal obamacare, and then pretty well shut up and go away and let the private sector heal the economy....and quietly appoint good judges....)
It has not been about gaining support, it is about destroying the people and the myths that derailed her image in 2008. Gaining support is the second step.
It has not been about gaining support, it is about destroying the people and the myths that derailed her image in 2008.”
Well, the people around here weren’t involved in her image downgrade in 2008. The attack dogs need to attack elsewhere.
I haven't quite sorted out who this guy is yet (although I have my suspicions). He's definitely an old timer. He's far too comfortable and self-assured for someone who only signed up in January.
That is, after you olve.
what the ? We got people around here who repeat that crap. We got people around here who believed “Shoeless Joe” McGinnis ! not just on this site, but many other GOP circles.
Get with it buddy.
Ummm she did, that's why McCain got as many votes as he did.
I haven’t seen any posts here defending McGinnis.
The problem is that Palin supporters here see any rational criticism of her such as “does she have the experience?” as the same thing as McGinnis. Which is absurd.
And I repeat: no one around here was downgrading Palin in 2008. To the extent there was any enthusiasm for McCain, it was because of either 1) positive enthusiasm for Palin, and/or 2) fear of obama and his Marxism. No one here enthusiastically supported McCain because they thought that he was just great.
Finally, your cocky, condescending attitude is precisely what I was referencing in the previous post. Can Palin win (if she runs) without activists, like those here at FR?
Yes, maybe.
But she’d have a much better chance if conservative activists universally got behind her campaign. But they won’t, because (for better and for worse) conservative activists don’t like being talked down to, by fellow activists, or by candidates, or really, by anyone.
So, good luck and we’ll circle up at the end of October and see if Palin is running...or not, and how she is doing around here, and elsewhere, at that time.
Yeah its done wonders for Perry! lol
I am not cocky. There are many P.O.S’s within the Republican party who tried to bring her down TMZ.com style. Some are still trying.
If she were in the race right now, they would recycle everything they could from 2008.
We know what these people are trying to do. They don’t know it, but they are like roaches crawling across white carpet. Thats how visible it is.
If you aren’t cocky, then I would suggest refraining from posting things like:
“Get with it buddy.”
You are implicitly (actually...explicitly) saying that someone else is not “with it”. Which is to say, that you are much smarter than the other person and they just need to get with the program.
That to me, is a perfectly rational and objectively defensible definition of both cocky and condescending.
There are legitimate arguments to make on behalf of Palin, and legitimate arguments to make against her...including her experience, and including the big question mark as to whether she is running, or not (and whether her delay has been helpful in the overarching objective of beating obama). These are good and fruitful discussions to have. But by personalizing and saying things like “Get with it buddy” you are moving away from the discussions and making it personal. Which was the whole point of my original line of thought. The internet attack dogs are losing potential votes for Palin.
This all sort of reminds me of a straw poll I attended in my state a few years ago, in the 08 election cycle. One of those meaningless exercises, but still, worth attending.
After Ron Paul spoke, his most strident supporters quite literally flooded into the aisles of the convention center while the rest of the conservative audience (many of whom were retirees) and stood in the aisles yelling, and waving their signs.
The gentleman closest to me (I was sitting on an aisle seat) was yelling at the top of his lungs, waving his Paul sign, and screaming: “You better get a clue, you establishment Trotskyite Republicans”.
Well, then.
Republicans who don’t follow Ron Paul are followers of....Trotsky! That sort of came as a surprise to me.
That is similar to the tone and tactics that I hear from the Palin only crowd. (Not yet to that degree, but still...on that trajectory). If you aren’t with them, then you are an idiot, commie rino, who doesn’t know squat about anything, and you need to “get with the program” and wake up and smell the coffee, etc.
That’s sort of how I see things as of now.
All that said, IF Palin runs (and especially IF the primary is still active by the time it gets to my state...usually doubtful), I will consider her alongside any other candidates that remain. I suspect and fear by that time, however, that it will be only Romney and maybe one lone alternative. But we’ll hope for something better than that.
"Yeah its done wonders for Perry! lol"
I mean for those that are trying to either introduce themselves to the electorate (like Perry or Caine) or reintroduce themselves (like Gingrich or Romney).
Sarah doesn't need to do either.
Hang in there. These primary races and Presidential campaigns are chaos but they are a very important part of being free in a Democratic Republic. I can tell you have a good mind and your help will be usefull in nominating and electing Sarah Louise Palin as President of the United States.
Thank God we are free. And the Republican party needs to be the party for all free men and women (even if they disagree on issues or candidates).
Yes it is! And its much easier to get the message out via the web and organize via the web. Its way easier to communicate with most everyone to get information simultaneously with the cell phone system. We no longer have to rely on the lying old media. She probably could actually wait beyond what Reagan did because of that. Thats what you meant, right?
You know what I meant - I meant what if someone like Sarah had stepped in at that point to run AGAINST McCain.
