You got me!
Thats how Massachusetts Gov. Duval Patrick reacted after local news station WBZ-TV caught Patrick driving in his SUV during car-free week a green initiative launched by the governor himself.
Look, its a great initiative for people who can make the most of it, he told reporters. I hope they will and I hope during the course of the week to make the most of it, too.
But he also tried to make light of the situation while quipping, I carpooled this morning with my trooper. We both had to come together.
But some local residents arent laughing. WBZ has some reaction:
Its a little bit of hypocrisy, observed one commuter.
We asked some regular folks if the Governor was talking the talk instead of walking the walk.
If hes going to tell people to do something, says another man, he should try to do it himself. Thats the way I see it.
[...]
He should be a role model for everyone, one man told us.
Heres footage of the incident, along with a cheeky report by WBZ about politicians who dont follow their own advice:

When asked to comment further, Deville Patrick stated, “Oh, you silly proles, rules aren’t for ME!!!”
LOL : He carpooled this morning with HIS TROOPER.
In other words he has a State Trooper assigned to be his chauffer and all around gopher.
Just about every Governor has one.Maybe more.
But then: Why not. half of Congress is chaufferred around by their security, I know Steny Hoyer is.
Technically, and SUV is not a ‘car’...
;-)
Another liberal douchebag hypocrite. I’m shocked, I tell you! Shocked!
Once again... a “do what I say and not what I do” moment. The fact that he tried to slime his way out of it by saying that his PAID STATE TROOPER DRIVER was carpooling with him... what a jerk.
Duval Patrick - Vice President of THE DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO CLUB. Warren Buffet is the President.
Great minds think alike, blueunicorn6! I must have beat you to that line by just a second.
MA had some admittedly RINO govs after Mike Dukakis decided to call it a day: William Weld, Paul Cellucci, Jane Swift (a disaster), then Mitt Romney (when Swift was down to about 10 per cent in the polls, Mitt jumped in). Romney only served one term and declined a salary (got our money's worth?) In 2006, Mitt's lt gov Kerry Healey was defeated by Deval Patrick. The hacks and their enablers had enough and wanted a Dem back in...wow, and he's black! We made history!
In 2010, Republican Charlie Baker (another RINO some would say) was defeated by Patrick, perhaps with the help of former Dem. treasurer Tim Cahill who diverted enough anti-Deval votes away to get Deval back in.
If Baker had been gov would he have done something like this? Would he have refused to comment on the Uncle Omar situation, or the illegal-alien-drunk-driver-in- homicide situation? Admittedly even a RINO gov would have had to deal with a very huge majority Dem legislature of course.
Instead, we get Deval.

At least Mike Dukakis supposedly used to ride the MBTA Green
line into work.
WBZ-TV:
>>The Red Line, by the way, is within walking distance of his house one of three T stations within a half mile of home.
He should be a role model for everyone, one man told us.
(Dukakis was a cheapskate—in his personal life but he spent like crazy as gov. Howie has related the story of the two labor leaders who showed up at Gov. Dukakis’ home. “Lemme get you guys a beer,” he said, and goes off into the kitchen. Hey, seems like a nice guy, the labor leaders think. Dukakis comes back with...one 12 oz. can and
two glasses.)
There's neurological reasons for his hypocrisy. As demonstrated above, The common sense particle is virtually nonexistent; thereby rendering him unable to self-detect hypocritical behavior. Couple that with a personal responsibility node that's the size of a pin head and you've got the reason why liberals consistently display hypocritical behavior.
An evil SUV kidnapped a Democrat Governor!
Obama who hates SUVs but rides in them all the time.
They really don’t hate SUVs - they just hate YOU having one;) It serves the gov. right. Green week, indeed - that is sure important - not the economy, terrorist attacks or lack of jobs. How about fire a politician week? How about cut government spending week?
Ha! I remember that!
Boston talk radio host Jerry Williams, now deceased, used
to say “he looked like Snoopy in that thing”. Howie Carr,
who inherited the time slot, has a copy of this pic in his office with the caption TANKS FOR NOTHING :)
When John Kerry was asked about his “gas guzzling” SUVs he claimed they belonged to his family/wife....not him.
Hannity has played an excerpt of when he had Arianna Huffington on and she was asked about the private jets she
rode in while praising the environmental movement. “They are just the planes that are already going there...” In his book
about the 100 people who are screwing up America, Bernie
Goldberg talked about Larry David’s wife Laurie—who chastised people for gas guzzling cars, etc., yet flew in
private jets that REALLY ate up a lot of gas. “Curb YOUR
damn enthusiasm,” Bernie says in relation to her.
Mass disastrous Republican Acting Gov Jane Swift invited controversy when she had a state helicopter take her home for Thanksgiving weekend, so she could avoid the traffic. Mass.
has no executive mansion.
So, where was home? Williamstown MA. For those who don’t know where it is, it’s up against the NY border. So the little
people can use their cars (and pass Mass Pike tolls) while
she flies in a helicopter. (Swift was never elected in her
own right; she took office when Paul Cellucci was named
ambassador to Canada. When her poll numbers cratered,
Willard Mitt Romney rode on a white horse to save the
day. He did win election, but... :) )
The SUV made up it’s own mind to drive, the Governor was fortunate enough to see what was happening and jumped in just to make sure that SUV didn’t hurt any innocent pedestrians along the way.
