JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A man from Jackson County, Ohio who was arrested for A spanking that some family members say went to far is now out of jail.

According to the incident report from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Brown was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence after his son admitted his father pulled his pants down and spanked him with a belt. Authorities say the spanking left bruising and welts on the boy’s bottom.
Brown III’s bond was originally set at $100,000. It was reduced to $1,000 during a hearing Tuesday.

I disagree. Have you seen some of the school yard fights some of these “girls” get into? Ganging up on another girl and beating her up? My grandmother had a phrase for that. “Take them to the field and horse whip them”!
My dad would have got ten consecutive life sentences.
My mom smacked me a few times, but Dad did the spanking with his bare hand. His bare hand was as hard as a 2x4. He had to spank me three times when I was a child. Just the three, and I vividly remember each instance. Then I was a good girl.
But looking back, if I were raising me, there would be shock collars and shackles involved. Even with the beatings I got, I got away with too much. Boys need tough love, just short of maiming, in some cases.

I just finished giving our 6 year old 6 times with the big brown belt for leaving a black Sharpie where our 2 year old could get it and write all over herself and the wall.
Told her it would happen if she did it again, and I followed through.
Also through away her learn-to-draw book that included said Sharpe.
Left the pants on, but I whacked pretty hard.
Her little sister crying as we had to use stridex and whatnot to get the damn sharpee off was probably a worse punishment.
Same with mine. Sounds like the father in this story went way overboard. Yes, kids need to be punished; but parents can and sometimes do go too far. I turned out alright, but I will always despise my father.
Then the old man would make us wait in mom and dad's bedroom for what seemed like an eternity.

Yep...same here. Dad would have us sit and wait while he gave a suspense building performance worthy of an Oscar. He'd go through his closet carefully selecting just the right belt. Then he'd take a few warm-up lashes against the banister, before we were told to bend over. By that time the punishment was already effective, and while we got us a relatively light little lashing, the sound and the fury were more than adequate course corrections.

My Christian Parents believed wholeheartedly, “spare the rod, spoil the child” scripture. Got the belt, the yardstick, the metal end of the flyswatter, whatever would truly hurt! Not sure I’m a better person for it but I sure learned how to keep my mouth shut, sit still in church and not steal. I lied like a rug though to avoid the punishment at all costs. I think you have to treat each child differently too. Just the threat of a spanking would turn my Son around but you could whip my Daughter till you were blue and she wouldn’t shed a tear. Had to go a different route with her.
It does pain me to read stories like this because it’s something the kid will never forget.

When my brothers and I knew the hammer would fall we would work ourselves into a false frenzy. Dad would come in and give us our whipping and leave. With crocodile tears running down our faces, we would start giggling as soon as the door closed.

We don’t even do that to killers. Untwist yourself.
As someone else wrote, my dad would have got the electric chair, with all beltings his 5 sons had received.

But her children will be better for a bit of corporal punishment.
Didn’t kill any of us who got it from loving parents who knew how to apply it.
Dad had the “go get a switch for me to beat you with” method. Much worse punishment was the actual selection, stripping and testing while trying to determine if it would be accepted as a suitable switch by Dad. After he rejected one then found his own, we never failed the suitable test again. Sometime he would let it set around for an hour while he decided to use it or not. Torture was the waiting time, not the whipping. Then he found this nice paddle with engravings in the Amish country. That became his new standard.
Our High School Vice-Principal used a 4 foot board. Thin in width but thick enough never to crack. He had a 2 step approach to his swing. He warned you if you looked back to see it coming, you would get two instead of one.
I only needed one from my HS VP. I was a slower learner with Dad. With Mom it was never a big deal until she uttered the words: “just wait until your father gets home”; that was bad news.
My kids have only had my hand. But I have left my own hand stinging for quite some time.
