NASHVILLE, Tenn. Canisters of bull semen caused quite a scare on the on-ramp to Interstate 65 South Tuesday morning.
The canisters fell off a Greyhound bus just after 5 a.m. as the bus traveled around the curve of the ramp just south of downtown Nashville.
Fire and emergency crews were called to the scene amid reports of a foul odor.

noone wants to risk an expensive stud getting kicked in the stones by a cow, or a mare for that matter , which is why insemination is done by the vet. also its costly and risky to transport those critters
Since you asked, either with an artificial (fill in the blank) or with an electrical ejaculator.
Hear, hear! That was a good one
Cheers!
Thanks for the info.
>> with an electrical ejaculator
You wouldn’t happen to know if they carry those at Radio Shack, wouldya?
I believe they electrically stimulate the prostate (at least they used to). The semen is then packaged in very slender plastic straws. The cannisters they’re referring to hold liquid nitrogen with the straws arranged in baskets which are submerged in the liquid nitrogen. The straws are marked with specific id’s so it can be determined which particular bull the semen is drawn from. The semen can go from a few dollars a straw up to hundreds per straw, and you can get a hundreds of straws from one collection event.
I’ve done a fair amount of artificial insemination so I’m somewhat familiar.
I read somewhere that that’s the most valuable liquid known.
Hubby decided to put her in the freezer instead. And yes, she was fat, but tasty...
Talk about doing the jobs Americans won’t do....sheesh
>> Ive done a fair amount of artificial insemination so Im somewhat familiar.
...and I haven’t, so I’m just going to take your word for it!
Thanks and FRegards

Next dumb question:
How do you get the bull to hold still for this?
There are several, more than you'd think, deaths each year from bulls. They weigh over 2000 pounds and they just head butt you against a post or a stationary object and you are just plain dead.
Collecting the semen and breeding the cows artificially has saved many farm lives. Dairy bulls are the worst.
Been there, done that.
Going to have a milk cow soon. I hope to breed her every couple of years. I understand that the...”material” can be ordered online. I plan to have the vet make a house-call for the actual insemination however.
I would imagine they would put the bull in a head gate or in a squeeze chute. I’ve never actually seen it take place. I’m more familiar with the artificial insemination with the contents of the straw being placed in the uterus of the cow.
Yep, you are in the know.
Soft lights, candles, and a Barry White CD mix ...
Well, it’s been a few years since I was in the registered cattle business but I assumed the technology hadn’t changed too much.
I was never a great AI technician. My clean-up bull always got a lot of work.
A special collection sleeve and an electric stimulus device that creates artificial orgasm. They wear helmets in the textbooks.
Then, they flash freeze in liguid nitrogen and sell it by the straw for artificial insemination of cows and heifers.
You might get a straw of semen from a $10,000 bull for $20 bucks or so.
>> an electric stimulus device that creates artificial orgasm. They wear helmets in the textbooks.
Who wears the helmet? The bull, or the semen collector?
