Boy Scout Dwight Donahue achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. His Eagle Service Project was organizing and leading 10 volunteers to restore the cannon at the Evergreen Cemetery in Bisbee for the veterans.
Donahue is a member of Scout Troop 401 and is sponsored by the Warren Community Church.
Boy Scout Dallen Haws also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Haws organized and led 50 people in creating a 80-foot trail at the Ramsey Canyon Nature Preserve that is wheelchair and handicap accessible.
Haws is a member of Scout Troop 435 and is sponsored by the LDS Church located on Yaqui Street.
Boy Scout Philip Ulmen achieved the rank of Eagle Scout as well.
Ulmen organized and led 18 volunteers to build a food garden for the Huachuca Hospitality House.
The goal of the garden is to provide the people at the Hospitality House with fresh produce.
Ulmen is a member of Scout Troop 464 that meets at Kino Hall at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church and is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4584.
that particular eagle was problematic getting his rank for that very reason. He was interviewed, and interviewed and everyone agreed he was worthy of the rank. He is the only one to ever get that rank. btw. I was laid off in 2010, NO MONEY in the council to meet payroll the Council Scout Executive was transferred to OC, and a interm from region stepped in they laid off the bookkeeper and the layoffs continue.
15 months later, I am still hunting for a job.
Congratulations! My oldest boy will have to hurry to get his project done before he’s 18, but the second one should be done by 16. We have two more boys in Cub Scouts, and the next will start in a year.
I've met one of the Scouts who earned all 121 merit badges - and I almost said 'earned' all merit badges.
Let's work backwards with the basics. You can't earn an Eagle Palm until you're an Eagle Scout.
There is a mandatory three-month period required to earn an Eagle Palm; they're not just based on earning merit badges.
That means the Scout spent a minimum of 60 months (five years) earning palms. That almost certainly assumes that the Troop is providing all of merit badge counselors to assure that all of the paperwork is turned in on a timely basis to meet the three-month deadline.
Pushing backward from the maximum age of eighteen for a Boy Scout, the means the kid earned his Eagle Scout on or before his thirteenth birthday.
In my District, Council, Regional, and National roles, I've met plenty of fourteen-year-old Eagle Scouts. I know dozen and dozens of other Eagle Scout leaders who have met fourteen-year-old Eagle Scouts.
The parents of these Scouts all swear their boys are mature enough to be Eagles; that they conceived of, planned, and carried out an Eagle project on their own.
That happens in fewer than 1% of the cases.
And that's for kids who earn Eagle at fourteen, before their fifteenth birthday.
A twelve-year-old Eagle Scout, or on his thirteenth birthday.
Sigh. That's like a participation trophy.
Or else the Troop fudged on the requirements for Eagle Palms (who can't earn two during the same three-month tenure).
Conbgratulations to your sons and you.
Agreed.
As an ASM, MB counselor and Eagle BoR member it’s not hard to discern between those who are Eagle “ready” and those who are not.
I cringe at MB carnivals, fairs, expos, whatever you want to call them, because they exist for one reason and one reason only. To push through a very shallow understanding of the MB so the Scout can “earn” it.
Also, as a MB counselor for some of the Eagle required MB’s, I have told the Troop Cmte and SM that I will ascertain whether a Scout sent to me is capable of completing the requirements and comprehends the material. If he can’t, I won’t take him on.
I’ve had numerous Scouts from outside our troop drop from my MB instruction once they learn they’re going to have to do the work to earn the MB.
Case in point, last year, I was contacted by four Scouts. 3 in one unit, 1 in another. I’ve only met with the 1 Scout once since our introduction to the MB and that was at least 6 months ago if not longer.
Our son turns 16 next week and is finishing up his last 2 MB’s and is currently planning out his Eagle project.
I moved him out of his previous troop because I knew he wasn’t going to get access to the program and that he probably wouldn’t have chance to earn his Eagle.

I agree, except I believe that the “Merit Badge Days” hosted by troops serve only one purpose... fund-raising. We discourage our scouts from participation in these short-cuts.
I was chairman of an Eagle Court of honor last week. The award was presented to one of two eligible.
The first has a scouting resume long as your arm and is the real deal. I simply shake my head in awe and thank God for such a fine young man.
The second, the son of an Eagle for whom I chaired the Court made the presentation some years ago, moved to Singapore. I believe he will attend the American school and will participate in the troop there. I don’t know if it is BSA. Far East Council is only Japan, Okinawa and Korea I think. Like his dad, he is at the very top of the heap.
His dad is a marine logistician and will look after freight movements in the pacific rim for his company.
Hi, I know this is an old thread but...is there any truth to this email I’m getting that claims that Barack Obama is the first president in 100 years to NOT sign Eagle Scout certificates?
BOY SCOUTS Every President since 1912 has been the honorary President of the Boy Scouts of America.President Obama refused that honor.
Did you hear anything about the Boy Scouts 100th Anniversary? Why did the press ignore it? Let's see, they promote honor, integrity, putting others first, love of country and of course they believe in God.
Not much press coverage on this story either, the first president in 100 years to insult his finest citizens, Eagle Scouts.
John Beauregard, CEO of the South Texas Council of the Boy Scouts of America joins us just after 7AM. David Haynie has two sons who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Dave Hiser's son is working on his Eagle Scout award now.
This is the E-mail xxxxxxxxxx sent to Glenn Beck and I forwarded to Glenn's producer Adam.
Dear Mr. Beck,
On March 24, 2009 I had the honor of attending my Grandson, ys Eagle yyyyyyyy'Scout Court of Honor. I imagine you have attended oneof these wonderful ceremonies. I also feel confident that you are very knowledgeable of what it means to have earned the status of Eagle Scout. Our entire family is so very excited and at the Court of Honor we were all just beaming as our wonderful young man was honored for his achievements.
After the Court was closed David's leaders pulled him aside and explained to him that they regretted to have to explain to him, as sad as it is, that his certificate was different from others they had presented because his certificate did not have the signature of the President of the United States.
They explained that Obama does not support the Boy Scouts of America and therefore does not sign the Eagle Certificates. To date I believe there may be as many as 10,000 of this countrys finest young men who do not have the signature of the president of the country they have taken an oath to respect and serve on their Eagle Certificate.
To my knowledge Congress chartered BSA in 1916 part of which the President of the United States is the Honorary President of The Boy Scouts of America and President Obama is the first sitting president to personally REFUSE to sign these certificates. I believe if the country were to be educated on national television of what the Boy Scouts of America stands for they would join those of us who already know, and would be as outraged as we are! Also, your good friend Jim Lago was also in attendance at this Eagle Court of Honor. I had the privilege of speaking with him this morning on his radio talk show here in Corpus Christi and shared with him this same information. He was equally alarmed..... to say the least.
This information should ignite in every parent the urgency to instill the great values held by the Boy Scouts of America in their young men for the cause of maintaining this great nation. We must stand united.
With appreciation,
xxxxxxxxx, grandmother to eleven of America's finest future citizens: David, Erikka, Adam, Ryan, Hailey, Tygh, Mana, Gerritt, Maya, Ezra and Lynden Osborne.
So, that's the story thus far. Calls have been made, citizens are angry, especially the parents of Eagle Scouts.
We have a very small man in a very big office.........THAT DOES NOT KNOW THE MEANING OF "HONOR"!
Don't you think it's time to get rid of this Un-American Muslim Traitor and get a real American back to running our country, like what we grew up with? Because I have had enough.
If you feel like I do, please pass this on.
As are Michael Moore, Marion Barry, John Murtha, Fred Phelps and Mike Dukakis.
I’d lay money on it being correct.
Marion "TBSMU" Barry? No way. Not a chance. Urban legend.
he can’t be that stupid. or that radical. ...uhmmm, well...
He also has a master’s degree in chemistry!

and B.O. has a JD from Harvard, right?
As does his lovely wife MooseChelle!
You can count on himbeing both and more.
I only made it to Star. Grew up in Jersey City so my group was naturally named the Rat Patrol.
But I am a member of The Order of The Arrow. That was an interesting induction at the age of fifteen. Blindfolded, led into the woods. Left with an empty coffee can, an egg, an orange and 1 wooden stick match. Probably be considered child abuse today.
Of course that was 47 years ago. I'm surprised I still remember this. Someone did something right by me. I still remember the name my Scoutmaster.
