My aunt has an unusual plant that came up in her garden & needs some help identifying it. It looks like a variety of squash, & I've done a search for images. But nothing I found matches it identically. I thought I'd ask for some FReeper assistance...

Last Fall on my morning run while visiting my son in Carlsbad, California I found a field where they were raising pumpkin blossoms on a commercial basis. Don’t remember talking to anyone there & so don’t know how I discovered that, unless there was a sign to that effect.
To: Twotone
My guess was zucchini too, but it could be some kind of hybrid as well. Whatever it is, I think most people have it in the ballpark, squash, pumpkin, zucchini, etc. Wait ‘til it fruits - it will pretty likely be nicely edible.

Sounds spectacular...I’d need more plants though...this lonely little vine is devine. Kinda an orphan :)

Certainly a squash/curcurbit.
Unknown type, probably impossible to tell just from the pics.

Yep, either zucchini, pumpkin or some other type of squash. If it gets really long vines, it’s probably a pumpkin. We have a huge one growing in our yard. Seeds must have been in my compost pile because we certainly didn’t intend to plant pumpkin! However, we now have 7 nice pumpkins growing! We also had some unexpected crookneck squash (again, seeds in the compost pile). The flowers of both looked just like that! Got some yummy cheese-squash soup in my freezer for winter enjoyment now!

The flowers had closed for the evening.

>>Some form of Datura. Dont eat the seeds!
Datura belongs to the classic "witches' weeds," along with deadly nightshade, henbane, and mandrake. Most parts of the plants contain toxic hallucinogens, and datura has a long history of use for causing delirious states and death. It was well known as an essential ingredient of love potions and witches' brews.[2]
I'm not sure what the plant in the photo is though. My first guess would be it's a cucumber.

Looks like a volunteer squash of some sort, i.e., probably won’t fruit, or the fruit will be inedible. Pretty plant though!
