So Many Flies At Burger King, Inspectors Wouldn’t Open Mouths

August 17, 2011 8:17 AM

CHICAGO (CBS) — Do you want flies with that?

A Burger King on the city’s South Side has been closed by the city, after inspectors found so many insects buzzing around that they were “afraid to open their mouths.”

LISTEN: WBBM Newsradio’s Keith Johnson reports

As WBBM Newsradio’s Keith Johnson reports, the Dumpster Task Force closed the Burger King at 1701 W. 95th St., on the eastern edge of the Beverly neighborhood, on Tuesday.

More than 200 flying insects of various species were found throughout the Burger King. They were spotted on the walls, the ceilings, the shelves for clean dishes, around the sink, in the food storage area, in a dry storage area, on the tubing of boxes of soft drink syrup, and in front of the drive-up window, according to the city’s Department of Streets & Sanitation.

Good luck, I had a real bad problem about a month ago, couldn’t walk outside with out getting some nasty fly bites and a few made it inside, but I got a swatter for that. Bought it on a whim for when I had the inlaws over and then couldn’t find it. :-) Next day after they left early, I saw it on top of the garage fridge and hit everything and it’s been much better the last few weeks. It was fun watching them just fall out of the air.

I noticed clear bags of water hanging from the eaves at this outdoor eatery in South Texas (New Braunfels), I was told they keep the flies away.

Looks like it works:

The Redneck Insect Fogger:

Electric leaf blower & #5 Seven Dust. Works best on windless days.

Turn the leaf blower upside down. Measure out about 6 oz of seven dust and pour into intake. Point toward the intended target area and turn on for 1/2 second...walk away from the cloud.
The above will cover about 3K+/- sq ft to about 6-10' high.

Dear spankalib,
It works! I have not seen one single fly land on my plastic bags full of water!!!
(define the limits of “keeps flies away.”)

A few rain clouds have move in and the flies are all taking cover on my front porch.

Please know this is all in fun!!! How are the old bags working out at your house? LOL!!!!
Happy swatting, WestwardHo

HAHA!

Very Good FRiend...

One of the ONLY benefits of the drought down here in Texas...

The flies n skeeters are way down, at least in my corner of suburbia.
I’d trade their presence for rain though...
Pray for us!

We get clouds, if we are real good we get 10 drops of rain...

It is fearsome dry here, too. (The bugs are down, and the lizards are starving....)
When we lived in Kansas and needed, rain everyone would meet at the courthouse square and pray for rain. God would answer and send rain! God answers prayer!
