Prayers, definitely.
I don’t think I would take him while she’s all hooked up, it might scare him but you know your son and whether he can handle it.
But otherwise I’d tell him the truth and have him help you pray for her.
Best wishes! GG

I wish I had better answers - pray, ask God for His Grace and His strength. Let His will suffuse yours. Trust in God.

I think kids understand sickness and accidents very early. No reason to keep it from him. His prayers will be heard too!

I agree with Sacajaweau... I was 29 when my mom died, and I saw her die a slow death due to cancer. It was horrible and I wouldn’t wish that on a 6 year old, so .... I would not let him see her.
However, a child’s prayer is mighty with God, I would encourage him to pray for her.

He tends his flock like a shepherd; He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart. Isaiah 40:11 May Jesus gather each one of you close to His Heart.

Prayers for your mother and all her family.
Don't be afraid to let your son see her and say goodbye. For you it is a teaching experience, for him a learning one, about the most important moment of our life on Earth - our death and the death of those we love. He will be sad, but that is a part of our nature. Don't think you have to shelter him from it, rather, help him through it.
If possible, if you are Catholic, allow him to participate in her receiving the Last Rites. Pray a Rosary for her at her bedside. In a concrete manner these type of actions will help set forth virtuous habits in him as he matures into manhood.
