Amy Winehouses album Back To Black has climbed back to top of the British album chart, eight days after the singer died in London. The Grammy award-winning album was also No. 1 in 2006 when it was released. Also on Sunday, Winehouses debut album Frank reached No. 5.

People like her would have been a lot better off in life if they weren’t famous and talented.
Happens with every dead artist. How do you think Lennon’s awful “Double Fantasy” album was one of the biggest sellers of 1981?
I understand that Elvis is still ranking in money. Didn’t Amy collapse on stage at her last concert and her backup singers had to continue? Or was that some other person?
Wasn’t there a song about a singer who dies on purpose to get his family rich? Or something along those lines...?
Not that I am suggesting Ms. Weinhouse’s demise was anything other than her sad life choices and wasting of talent (although I didn’t much care for her music but many did).
Nothing like a sudden and untimely death for a career move.
Worked for Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly.
“... Penny for your thoughts ... oh no, I’ll sell them for a dollar,
They’re worth so much more after I’m a goner.
Maybe then you’ll hear the words I’ve been singing,
Funny when you’re dead how people start listening ...”
(”If I Die Young,” by The Band Perry)
The media did the same for the Michael Jackson promoters. The media worked their tail off 24/7 to turn Jackson respectable enough to provide big profits for the promoters and Hollywood. This is the same with this druggie. Everything they do is about celebrity, image and profits and the stupid fools that willingly shell out their hard earned money for those who do absolutely nothing for humanity.
After seeing her lifestyle I’m simply not compelled to indulge in what she considered “art”. Maybe she was a good singer, maybe she was great, but I suspect as much the media loved her because they are enamored with someone they believe will implode and crash. She was easy money to them.
Wow, I love her bluesy voice, reminds me of Janis.
I had no idea she was such a good singer.
Thanks for the link.

Her death wasn’t terribly sudden. More of a drawn out wasting away on heroin.
More of a slow suicide.
Her disease preceded both.
I believe she was drunk or high and was staggering and slurring her words.
The audience eventually started booing her and she walked off stage and cancelled the rest of the tour ,happened in Bulgaria i believe...
Sadly as her disease progressed she never really sang in her upper range. She did however in her first album Frank and the notes combined with her contralto voice was that much better. As good as she was as an active alcoholic and drug addict she would have been superb without. Sad.
Okay, right. It was her. Sad though. She had a talent of sorts.
I was listening to my Amy Winehouse CD last night.
Yes I think I bought three Johnny Cash CD’s after he died. NOw I have about 5 of them.
I think it was Mearloaf that colasped. I believe in her last time on stage singing she was drunk and slurred her words. However, I saw a video which is believed to be her last on stage performance she did not sing but was on stage with her goddaughter or something where she didn’t appear to drunk or anything.
