Krugman in the NYT on Obama: "What a Disaster".
NYT ^ | July 24 2011 | Paul Krugman

July 24, 2011, 10:11 AM President Pushover Updated: Drew article now available.

The redoubtable Elizabeth Drew has a forthcoming article in the New York Review of Books — not yet online — that confirms all our worst fears. She tells us that past concessions have

established in both Democrats’ and Republicans’ minds the thought that Obama was a weak negotiator—a “pushover.” He was more widely seen among Democrats and other close observers as having a strategy of starting near where he thinks the Republicans are—at the fifty-yard line—and then moving closer to their position. Even more alarming, however, is her window on what the White House is thinking:

It all goes back to the “shellacking” Obama took in the 2010 elections. The President’s political advisers studied the numbers and concluded that the voters wanted the government to spend less. This was an arguable interpretation. Nevertheless, the political advisers believed that elections are decided by middle-of-the-road independent voters, and this group became the target for determining the policies of the next two years.

OK, I’ve never won a tough election. But neither has Obama! The 2008 race was looking close until Sarah Palin and Lehman came along. And as far as I can tell, this assessment both of what 2010 was about and what matters for 2012 is just ludicrous.

Do it late in the campaign and get the “sympathy vote” too?

He'll have to pull in the sympathy vote for someone else, 'cause he's got to go, if they've got any hope of keeping the White House.

Biggest trouble the Dems are going to have, is in finding someone to replace him. That's a very tall order.

True misery over there right now.

The latest is that the Harry Reid deal is so bad because "Progressives" aren't attacking and harassing "tea baggers" and "dildo heads". Maybe it's because "Progressives" (defined by the poster as people who should engage in assault and battery) know somewhere in the darkest recesses of their pea sized brains, that they would have their gluteus maximi handed to them.

Maybe he could point at those scars on his noggin and dribble down his chin.

I'm thinking some sort of nervous disorder, brought on by evil Republican opposition to his Grand Marxist Utopian Plan.

I think there are two "old bulls" in the Senate that are about to realize that what a disaster Obama has become:

Charles Schumer (D-NY)--who likely represents the powerful Wall Street interests--is looking at another financial meltdown that could take down a whole bunch of Wall Street financial companies. I'm sure Goldman Sachs has told Schumer to "do something about Obama."

Harry Reid (D-NV)--who probably has the ear of the very powerful Culinary Union Local 226 in Las Vegas--is realizing that Obama's policies has seriously hurt the membership size of that union. Being Majority Leader, he will soon realize that Obama's policies is actually hurting union membership nationwide in a gigantic way and I wouldn't be surprised that the rank and file of the unions are going to turn on Obama very soon, which means Reid may start asking a lot of hard questions on just Obama is up to, despite Reid's public face.

“when they REALLY turn on him, it will be ugly.
The Left are racists and that long stifled racial hate will manifest itself when they dump him for Hillary...”

The Left are indeed racist. Remember the comments of Biden and Harry Reid. They said Obama’s “clean” and that he does not have the “negro dialect”.

They may try to dump Obama, but this man’s ego is enormous. If they try to dump him, he’s not going down quietly. He is so Cesar like, I think he would rather bring the entire country down before he steps down. I don’t think Obama’s all that stable. He is utterly lawless.

I think it was comments about partying golf, drinking, and date nights that got me banned.

Yes, I can see where that would drive the emotionally shrivelled and maladjusted moonbats - moonbatty. How unkind of you.

Obama won the 2008 election with the highest percentage of white votes that any Dem presidential candidate has garnered in the last 6 elections, something like 46%. Someone posted a recent Pew poll reflecting his rating down to 38% of white voters. I guess the magic unicorn effect has worn off for some of them after watching the guy in action for the last 2 1/2 years. Not only does the emperor have no clothes but it appears but apparently he has joined the scarecrow from Oz in search of a brain.
