I filled a 20lb LNG tank this afternoon and now with the valve open it won't release the gas. BBQ ruined.
The guy where I got the gas says the valve is stuck or broken closed inside.
Is there anything I can do?
You’re gonna need a hammer and a chisel.....

There is nothing that can’t be fixed through the judicious use of explosives.
Close the valve... beat on it with a hammer, gently... and, try again...
repeat.
If that doesn’t work, you’ve probably got to get a new tank
Not sure, but have a video camera handy for a Youtube moment, just in case....
Build a large wood fire.
Gently place the tank in the middle.
Quickly back off at least 1/4 mile.

Go get a new tank.....
Turn off valve.
Disconnect from barbeque.
Re-connect, making certain fittings are tight and the little rubber gasket is in place.
Open valve slowly.
There is a fuel flow restricter inside the valve which shuts it off if it detects too much flow. You must shut off the valve and remove downstream pressure before it will reset.
Are you sure the tank valve wasn’t opened with the grill burner valve in the open position? If it was the new design will not let much gas flow. If this happened, shut the burner valve off and shut the tank valve. Disconnect the gas line and then reattach the gas line, open the tank valve and light the grill the way you normally would. Never open the tank valve with a burner valve in the open position.
Are you channeling Gunner or Eaker, by any chance?

take it to a Blue Rhino (not Olympia Snowe, the other kind) and trade it in. i think they take old tanks.

I’m sure you mean LPG not LNG! If it is liquid natural gas just leave it alone in the sun and in a few minutes say “howdy” to Jesus!
Get the most annoying person you know to try. If will open for them with out a problem making to you look dumb.
Quite often a bbq will act like this if one or more burners is left open when the gas valve is closed.
Try making sure the burners are turned off, connect the LPG and turn the tank valve on but wait five minutes before trying to open the burner valve to light it.
Always turn off all burners prior to closing gas valve to keep this from happening.
You know that grace before meals at the Eaker house includes the line “Please Lord, let us not have to stop, drop, and roll.”
Turn off the grill valve, if there is one. Turn off the tank valve. Disconnect the tank and reconnect it without much torque. Test for leaks with dish detergent/water mix. Tighten a little if necessary. Try it again.
If that doesn’t work, exchange the tank for another one.
