A Vaccine May Shield Boys Too (Gardasil )
New York Times ^ | July 18, 2011 | RONI CARYN RABIN

Snapshots of two clean-cut teenagers, a boy and a girl, stare out from a newspaper advertisement for the vaccine Gardasil. “Boys can be affected by HPV disease too,” says the bold headline. The ad urges parents to protect “both your son and daughter.”

Until recently, Gardasil was a girls-only proposition. Approved for young women ages 9 to 26, the vaccine promised a great benefit: protection against four strains of sexually transmitted human papillomavirus (HPV), including two that can lead to cancer of the cervix, vagina and vulva.

Yet the vaccine has been a tough sell. It requires three shots, often painful, over the course of seven months. So far, only one in four teenage girls younger than 18 have completed all three shots.

Now, in the wake of new research suggesting that the vaccine protects against other cancers, Gardasil is increasingly marketed as an important vaccine for boys, too. The Food and Drug Administration has approved it for young men ages 9 to 26, expanding the list of indications just last December.

All of which is sure to leave many parents asking: What’s in it for our sons? The answer, it turns out, is changing fast.

And here I've been told that condoms were the answer to all this. I remember nearly every liberal school demanding to hand out condoms, even to kindergartners.

Teaching children abstinence is a much more effective vaccine. Few, if any, side effects.

Yes, maybe it will catch on with males if it’s marketed as preventing diseases common to men having sex with men. (/s)

However, the mothers who don’t care if their sons infect future sex partners, as long as it doesn’t inconvenience them, should advertise the fact so that girls can steer clear of people brought up to think only of themselves. (not_s)

Their new ad campaign

"Gardasil - shouldn't you prepare your child to be a whore?"

Boys don’t have uteruses and cervixes.

I made those up because the idea of a boy taking a vaccine that’s specifically made for a girl and her parts is absurd.

There has been an increase in the rate of oral cancers among young people - same type of cancer. We can thank President Clinton for that.

The vaccine is made for a virus. Males contract and transmit the virus.

Deep into the article:

But so far public health experts have dismissed the idea of a vaccination campaign singling out young gay men specifically. “It’s very stigmatizing,” Dr. Saslow said.

Unless they get raped or marry someone who's lied about their own background. I type GYN oncology medical transcription, and some of the stories would rip out your heart. Women who've turned their lives around only to find a few years later they have cancer. Some of these cancers require "skinning vulvectomies." Think about that before criticizing the vaccine.

This vaccine only protects against 4 types that cause cnacers when there are 15 high risk types that do the same thing. With that in mind I think the vaccione is not as protective as made out to be and considering the side effects it can have....?

Do you mean side-effects like death?

I don’t see where I criticised the vaccine. I said abstinence is more effective and has fewer side effects. Abstinence would be 100% effective, don’t you agree?

Yes, but liberals want to use injections of toxins to destroy the ability of the body to procreate (and who knows for what other damages to the immune system, brain, and the natural development of children). Why do you think they are making so many dubious vaccinations “mandatory” like HB shots (3x’s) for sexually active infants?

Don’t you think mandatory injections into the body of known toxins with no possible knowledge of all side effects (or some undisclosed, hidden agenda) is on the really fascist and unconstitutional side of governments? Corporate cronyism is a good, don’t you know and always works for the good of people, never money.

Ah, trust government and the Chinese or Indians who provide the “ingredients” in the vaccines—we do have “good” people and quality control of vaccinations—Remember gulf war syndrome.....which the government and pharmaceutical companies paid billions to hide and deflect....and vilify anyone who would connect vaccines and autism?

Kind of like the Marxist destruction of anyone who connects homosexuality with dysfunction. DESTROY THEM AND THEIR RIGHTS TO FREEDOM OF THOUGHT (and the Truth). No truth allowed in the Brave New World.

Joys of indoctrination and conditioning and government control of the masses continues and the sheep don’t even “question” it. Wonder if the “government” has a Big Plan/sarc?

The more I read, the more I’m starting to wonder just how many cancers are caused by viruses. Sad it will be an excuse to screw around more, but I’m all for preventing cancer.

“Abstinence would be 100% effective, don’t you agree?”

Abstinence for life, yes. But what if that person saves themself for marriage, and then marries someone who wasn’t as chaste? Or someone who had been with only one other person, but was still infected?

It’s easy to say that you’ll teach your children to wait for marriage. It’s hard to control what they will do as they become young adults. It’s harder, still, to control what their future partner(s) will do.

I will do the research when my children are of the age to get the vaccine, but at this point - and as a cervical cancer survivor - my kids will get the vaccine.

Seems to me to tacitly foster and approve pro-homosexual teaching and practice for young men. A backdoor approach.

Women should have an annual Pap test and take immediate action if the results are not completely clean. This is true whether or not they have had a vaccine which addresses some strains of HPV.

I anticipate there will be more, not fewer, dangerous cases of cervical cancer, as more women skip Pap tests because they believe they have been vaccinated against cancer, rather than against a few of the potential viral triggers.
