This is what progressives do. Grow power in the executive, at the expense of other branches.
Once again, you have the republican establishment snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory and putting defeat right back front and center. It's time to light up McConnell's office, no matter what part of the country you're from. One of the headlines regarding what McConnell just said is this:
McConnell Proposal Gives Obama Power to Increase Debt Limit
And that's exactly the kind of thing that's going to get tea partiers to form a third party. That's the last thing we need. And people think I'm kidding when I say that we're gonna have to defeat republicans before we can challenge Obama. Good grief
Third parties WERE a viable option, until Ross Perot came along. After getting 19%, and terrifying both the Donkeys and the Elephants, the two parties cooperated and made it MUCH tougher for a third party to succeed. Now the only choice is to dismantle the GOP and reform it.
2nd Revolution? Not everyone was on board with the first, but yet.....
Just how many Mitch McConnells are there???
One smacks down 0bama on the senate floor, one wants to give him a backdoor way to ignore any debt limits, now another Mitch McConnell wants to split the conservative vote to get 0bama another term.
Are all these Mitch McConnells from the same state? How strange!
Grover Norquist, leader of all anti-tax forces in the nation,is supporting the McConnell contingency plan because it calls out Obama on spending cuts - and it is a good PR move.
Everyone can stop overreacting.
NRO has the story.
Right, a good PR story. Are they getting anything done?
Just this morning I was praising Mitch for taking a tough position against Obama.
I am so whipsawed.

Very good GOP Hill source: McConnell plan won’t fly in House. Even Biden Plan a tough sell. Want $4 tr in real cuts
How encouraging.

They are working us over for sure. I believe they’re running scared, however. We are going to take this party back and need poll watchers trained, ready and backed up with on site attorneys. We’re not done.
I think massive civil disobedience will come first. General strikes, marches on capitals, etc. Eventually, the government will fire on the crowd. Then the creation of citizen militias as the government cracks down. Prison camps to house the political prisoners. Confiscation of property to punish the leaders of the citizen opposition with their families turned out into the street to be made examples of (”See. The militia leader doesn’t think government handouts are so bad now that his family is broke and homeless.” as your wife gets a camera shoved in her face to denounce you publicly for fighting the government that is now going to feed her—if she cooperates.)
The US is not going to be a nice place much longer and the transition into whatever we become will take many long, painful years. Many of our people are little more than savages with no morals and the selfishness of a spoiled child. We get mad if we have to stand in line for 5 minutes at the grocery store. Imagine what a two hour line for rice will be like? Then imagine that they run out before you get yours! We’ll probably start sneaking into Mexico before its over.
We can argue about the Titanic’s seating arrangement, but the fact that we are arguing about the things we are arguing about proves that we are in the final stages of a marxist takeover. The final stage happens fast...you want to be most prepared at 3 in the morning, that’s when they come to politically cleanse the citizenry. If you can survive the night of the long knives you’ll at least be able to witness the surprised look upon the faces of the useful idiots. Check out the Yuri Bezmanov interviews from the ‘80’s.
The Rinos don’t want a GOP majority because then they have to put up with conservatives and they are international socialists. The Democrats don’t want the Tea Party having power either.
Socialists want a one party system so they can rule over the stupid peasants without interference.
McConnell cannot stand the heat. He always caves.
As I have always stated, they are the party of unintended consequences.
I'd go further in my explanation but never show your hand.
Like I said.....PARTY OF UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES.
3rd party would be good.
It must be created from the bottom up.
Once we have many 3rd party members in state and Fed then run for president.
Whomever wherever can urge whatever, but Tea Partiers know how to win, and the RINOS and left still can’t cope with or understand what happened last November.
As if the TP is subject to shepherding by RINOs.
Ask Lisa Murkowski, we’ll primary your ass and make YOU change parties.
That is, primary the RINOs, make THEM change parties while having rat voter fraud shriveled up and dead by Nov ‘12.
>>I’d go further in my explanation but never show your hand.
This isn’t poker. They need to know that they aren’t fooling us anymore. People need to hear what others think and know, because the media and politicians of both parties are oversimplifying everything and the poorly-educated masses (regardless of whatever educational “acheivements” they have accomplished) can’t discern the truth anymore. For example, most people people think that the debt ceiling issue is simple, with a winner and loser. They want to think that, because the alternative is too scary to contemplate. Someone has to step up and be the prophet, regardless of consequences.
Play your cards close to the vest and one day you will wonder why no one else knew what you knew.
The GOP belongs to the peasants now.
The only way that Congress can give that power to the President is through the passing of a Constitutional Amendment. In his 1996 majority opinion, Stevens concurred: If there is to be a new procedure in which the president will play a different role in determining the text of what may become a law, such change must come not by legislation but through the amendment procedures set forth in Article V of the Constitution.
