Short vanity - sorry for the rant, but I just tried to post an article to FR that is from a "blocked source". I don't agree with every premise in the article, but feel that it constituted a starting point for a very good discussion. In my humble opinion, FR blocking posts from certain sites based on idealogical biases is counter-productive to a real discussion and examination of issues.
I remember the old Free Republic and it was a little wild and wooly, but it also had a more lively intellectual flavor where dissenting opinions and creativity were allowed. What say you?
IB4TZ!
I say IBTZ
I once saw Ringo Starr at a Trailways bus depot in Gillette, Wyoming.
What was the site you were trying to post stuff from? Just curious...
I want a pony.
Ideological differences or copyright complaints? I suspect it is usually the latter and certainly done with cause. When you start your own site, let us know.
FR isn’t blocking it, the source is enforcing its right to limit its own distribution.
When liberals can’t win an argument, they sue you and hire someone who can.
The list of blocked sites we cannot post from is growing for intellectual property reasons...
Liberals can post content from these sites all they want, but if FR does it, Jimrob gets sued... Capiche?
That’s weird, because I have it on good authority that he uses Wilkinson Sword razor blades.
Why did you make “censorship” a keyword?
Huffington - and I’m not a regular reader - I “google newsed” certain key words to research articles that addressed my topic. Is it a copyright issue?
A lot of sites have sued FR over copyright issues so they aren’t allowed.
Others like Alex Jones, Stormfront, or other crap, I think I can speak for everyone when we say we don’t want it here.
Were you the person who posted the article about the Afghan pipeline? I was going to respond that the pipeline was known as the CONOCO pipeline in the 90’s, but the thread was gone.
First, it's Jim's site, he can block what he wants.
Second, some "news sites" have threatened to sue FR (or HAVE sued FR) to stop posters from posting articles (all or in part) claiming FR was violating "fair use."
Those sites content or links are no longer permitted to protect FR.
If you don't like the policy, or object to JimRob protecting his arse legally because you want to post from those sites, then go start your own forum.
liar. ringo uses an electric razor. everyone knows this
That was Yasser Arafat.
Are you sure that the source does not block FR from using its content, so the Mod is just doing his job?
