WHY THIS MATTERS POLITICALLY. There are two games Governor Palin is fighting: one is the battle to take control of her political narrative, the other is taking control of her PERSONAL narrative--and this includes everything surrounding her FAMILY.
Having Bristol go on The View is BRILLIANT, and does more for raising Governor Palin's political profile and stature than one may think!
With Bristol giving the whole scoop about the details surrounding her pregnancy, she takes the narrative of the "dirty details" and "dirty secrets" away from the mouths of Levi Johnston and rumor-makers in the press, who would try to use those things to detract from Gov. Palin.
I also like the comments Bristol made contrasting herself and her mother from the high-maintenance, first-class riding McCain women. Total, direct response to those pathetic 2008 rumors about Palin being materialistic and purposefully wanting hundred-thousand dollar wardrobes, about her family being "hillbillies who want the high life" etc...the McCain camp did nothing to defend the Palins against those nasty rumors. Totally deplorable considering how the Palins are the exact opposite of high-maintenance, entitled brats.

Regardless of how you paint it, her book and tv promotion is no more than do-as-I-say, not-as-I-did. It’s ultimately promoting illegitimacy, plus can she just take a break from the limelight. The Palins sure like the camera.

I was not promoting class warfare. I was merely pointing out how pertinent it was to make the contrast in light of all the stupid ways the media tried to frame and disparage the Palins with the hoopla regarding her campaign trail wardrobe et al.
This is a woman with a 25 dollar wedding ring for crying out loud. its not a statement about their station in life...merely where their hearts are at: rich or poor, they are not the shallow materialists the media tried to paint them as.
I do not expect President Palin to get rid of Air Force One or the White House furniture. sheesh!
