Hi everyone! I hope your 4th of July was a good one.
it's time again for my quarterly "What Are You Reading Now?" thread. As you know, I consider Freepers to be among the most well-read of those of us on the Internet and I like to see what other Freepers are reading these days.
It can be anything - a classic novel, a trashy pulp romance, a technical journal, etc. Please do not deile this thread by posting "I'm reading this thread". it became very unfunny a long time ago.
I'll start. I'm just finishing "Chancellorsville 1863: The Souls of the Brave" by Ernest Furgurson. It's OK. Nothing to rave about though.
Well, what are you reading now? Let's hear about it!
Swiss Family Robinson. I just finished Robinson Caruso a couple of days ago.
Make sure you read “World War Z”. Really, if you’re a zombie fiction fan, it’s a must-read.
Finished Jim Butcher’s DEAD BEAT last night (book 7 of the Dresden Files)
Started Book 8, PROVEN GUILTY
All in anticipation of making it thru all the series again (re-reading) before the release of GHOST STORY on July 28th so everything is fresh in my head.
Check out a post I did a while back about the US Naval Academy’s reading list for life

Just downloaded free mp3 audiobooks of George Orwell’s 1984 and Animal Farm to take on our driving vacation tomorrow. We plan to listen to these while on the road. If anyone has any other suggestions &/or weblinks to download, I would appreciate it.
“H2G2” originated as a British radio play. You must listen to it.
Thanks for the link!
“Fortress America” by Blakely & Snyder
Published in 1997, it’s a rather fascinating analysis of social redoubts and attempts at self-government such as gated communities, etc.
The Great Divorce-C.S. Lewis
They're pretty good entertainment for Space Opera. Very imaginative but quite linear in their plot structure. But they are cheap at $2.99 for each volume in eBook format. Good Summer reading.
I download books on my kindle apps on tablet. I have Michael H Brown( The God of Miracles,The Spirits around Us) Which I am reading now. They gave for free Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Treasure Island, Aesop’s Fables. Also Jesus and the Jewish Roots of The Eucharist Unlocking the secrets of the Last Supper by Brant Pitre.
Just finishing up The Resevoir by John Millken Thompson and will be starting on The Fifth Witness by Michael Connelly.
Outwitting the Devil (Napoleon Hill and Sharon Lecter)
As America has done to Israel(forgot the author's name, but is extremely interesting)
3 Nights in August (Buzz Bissinger)
I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the latest novel in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. He does a lot of fantasy & sci fi. If you liked Harry Potter, you should like the Dresden books. They’re more for adults & very entertaining.
While I’m waiting I’m reading The Original Argument (Glenn Beck & Joshua Charles).
It was very good.
Thanks. I’ve already read it. Probably the best in the genre.
I'm about half-way into it and really enjoying it.
Where did you get those? I’d love to get the free MP3 Downloads of those books!
