Man oh man. What is happening to our society? Where are all of these people coming from all of the sudden? People parking in Handicapped spots that walk completely fine and then pull down the placard as they drive away. Ignorant people that cut in line at the deli, amusement park or shows. Parents on cell phone calls as their crazed kids run around uncontrollably. I ain't perfect, nor am I one of those people that said "when I was young..." Because I feel a lot of these teens have more "manners" than most adults and younger kids. WTH is going on? There is no shame and when you confront these people they completely act as if you were not there and ignore you! I find it amazing and it is getting worse at an alarming rate. Does anyone else notice this?
Yes, every day.
Consider yourself lucky.
It’s been like that here in RAT country since I moved here in 72. But the weather and cheap living is enough to compensate.
I’m in debi Blabberman Shultz’s district! Couldn’t find ruder people.
You are witnessing the fruits of the steady moral, spiritual breakdown this country has been going through for the last 30 years.
The liberal voting base having some “ME” time.
Strangely I’ve noticed it is worse as the recession has wore on. You’d think that’d make people shape up.
Personally it seems right now this nation is without any rudder whatsoever due to our Dear Leader who is undermining everything the country is at every turn. I think there’s a subconscious trickle down effect.
You mention people parking in handicapped spots who walk fine but I will go you one better. Where I live I am constantly seeing people who think the curb right in front of the store is there special designated spot. In front of the supermarket, the laundry mat, and nearly everywhere I am seeing this trend. I cannot understand why the police arent doing anything about it. It is pure laziness and hinders everyone else. I am many times tempted to tell them off but dont need the possible violence that may result.
EXAMPLE:
Last w/e, the house 2 doors down had a large party. About 30 cars. So around 11pm, was in my garage and heard (what I thought were) girls screaming. So I went out front and stood in my driveway in the dark.
2 20-something women and 2 12 y/o boys were walknig down my sidewalk. When they passed me, I heard one say to the boys, you better watch out, he’ll call the cops on you because your black.
Can you believe it?
>> People parking in Handicapped spots that walk completely fine and then pull down the placard as they drive away.<<
How could you possibly know if they were handicapped or not? I had a heart attack a few years back and post-op I could walk just fine — for about 50 feet. Then my heart would start pounding and my breath became shallow. I needed to park close just to conduct my day to day business. When I recovered I discarded the placard.
There are a lot of handicaps you can’t see. Just because someone appears OK to you doesn’t mean he/she is OK.
Got judgementalism a little?
We are all surrounded by the ignorant and lazy every day. It never bothered me when I was younger, but as I age I seem to be less tolerant of B-S.
Maybe you are just getting old? :)
It's been going on for a long time, and I hardly think it began with Clinton, but I think his administration is when I first became really aware of it.
"It depends on what the meaning of "is", is." -- B. Clinton
"Everyone gets one free grope. It's not a sexual assault if it stops there." -- NOW
And apologies began to take on a definite flavor of: "I'm sorry -- very sorry -- that I got caught."
The powerful people get away with just about everything, and everyone wants to be powerful, so everyone assumes that they will naturally get away with anything too.
The other day, there were kids running wild in Walmart - imagine that. They thought the dog food shelves were a jungle gym. After trying to get around them to buy some dog food and having their grubby little noses and shoes all over the packages I finally told them to get off because people didn’t want to buy their germs. Of course, that’s when mama finally showed up. I just looked at her daring her to say a word - she didn’t.
What gets me is the little old ladies in the grocery line who butt bump you with their carts. As if that’s going to get them through the line any quicker. I usually keep my mouth shut because I was taught to respect my elders, not that they deserve respect, and I tell myself they’re blind and can’t see my big fat butt.
Society goes downhill ss the dress code goes downhill. People leave the house looking like slobs. The attend church in shorts and skimpy tank tops. Don’t even get me started on how they massacre the English language.
If you have the handicapped placard, it is supposed to be removed when driving. My mother has one and while it may appear that she is “OK” she is recovering from a hip replacement. If we are in a new place or a place where she knows the distance/terrain might be difficult we will use the placard so she can move around without much assistance. I am not as quick to judge the handicapped placard people as I used to be.
The rest of your comments though are things that make me crazy. The worst is the full cart in the “12 items or less lane.”
If the curb in inside the store’s parking lot, it’s private property so the police aren’t going to do anything.
Exactly.

I don’t know what that means, exactly. Sorry.
Such folk would do well to acquaint themselves with the facts. Then such folk spend more time thanking God that they do not qualify for the use of such spaces and less time whining and bitching about people who do.
