It’s now $11.00 to go to the movies. I have a 50 inch screen at home. Redbox is $1.00. Simple economics.

My wife and I went to see this movie... I thought it was quite good, and predict it will do better than these opening figures would indicate. Word of mouth will keep it going for awhile.

Not only that, Roberts and Hank are a *tired* team. Who wants to see them in a chick-flick?

By the way, we went to the 5:20 pm Friday movie (it’s only $5.50 apiece)... and the theater was PACKED... Late arrivers were sitting on the front row....

I’ll bet soon that movies will go direct to DVD - eliminate cinema’s - you can get the same viewing pleasure with a large screen TV and a home theatre system, and, without all that noise crunching of popcorn and whispering going on behind you.

One bright spot: the DVD might be on Netflix.

But it will be another one that I don't put in my queue.

Disagree. Its good to get out once in a while and there is something about going to the movies. That being said, I only go about 3 or 4X a year now, down from about 2X per month back in the 80s.

but just ‘C+’ from audience members under age 35.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Surprise anyone?

Hanks and Roberts are OLD! When Julia talks her famous fat fake lips are wrinkled with vertical lines.

I have a 40" 1080p LCD panel connected to my Blu-ray player and a TiVo HD XL DVR. Why should I watch movies in an uncomfortable theater and pay highway robbery prices for both tickets and concessions?

Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Joy Behar, Whoopie Goldberg, etc., etc., now all has-beens!!! Touch Obama, rant about and over him in a love fest of words of adoration, and....down you go!!! Oprah, Hanks and Roberts ruled the world. Now, they are not worth a minute of your time or even a dime!!! Dummies, all!!!

Well perhaps. I'm still thinking that movies will eventually go straight to DVD - cinema's are a dying breed. There was a multiplex cinema, real nice one, that went out of business after about 25 years near where I live. Before coming down here to work the one's I went to weren't all that full - plus the movies they're making these days are (to be polite) junk. No original ideas, just remakes of remakes of remakes.

Regards.

10-4 I went to this movie because of the trailer. In this day of sick movies what a refreshing story. It also presents what people are doing in this economy. I am amazed I liked it so much. We both liked it. I woke up thinking if they just made more movies like this one. I recommended it. Let’s get the word of mouth going. Because we can maybe get more decent movies. Of course maybe I am dreaming.
