We have been so blessed in America to have a government of liberty, choice, freedom of moving around and living where ever we choose.
No one knows when that day of the LORD will come. Evidence is that it is close. The fact America is no in the Bible indicates we will have passed off the scene, or dissolved, or been taken over perhaps by Islam. There will be a one world government and one world religion and the anti-christ will rule.
Will we see this? I hope not. Selfishly it would be good to not experience the coming wrath of God. The Scriptures about stars falling from the heavens like figs from a tree and all the related disasters will be a time of terror, fear, and loss of all sorts, maybe no food, or water. etc,.
The rapture is a topic that has only been taught for the last hundred or two hundred, more years. So I am not thinking we are going to get out ahead of all this devastation. God knows. It is nice to believe we will escape, but it is not likely we will miss all the pain.
Father, we love thee, we need thy grace, we honor and glorify thee and desire to be pleasing in thy sight. Thank thee, for the holy spirit, and the treasure of thy Word. Help us to do the right thing, and we ask for forgiveness of our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us. Thy will ... will be. Show mercy to thoe seeking ot know and serve thee. Speaking as an amateur sky watcher, how enormously cool will it be if this thing passes close enough to shower the atmosphere with a massive amount of dust-size particles so that the resulting “meteor shower” is unlike any in recorded history?
My luck it’ll occur on the opposite side of the planet. Here’s hoping for a once-in-a-lifetime (no, not last-in-a-lifetime) show.

That’s the main reason I don’t see the bulk of Believers still here after the mid-poitn of Tribulation. I would still much prefer the first elevator !UP! before even the first day of Tribulation.

Just go out before dawn the day we pass through its tail. You should be able to see the comet dust coming down. I did this for comet Lee in 1999 and it was quite impressive. It was an expened iron comet, without a corona and was nearly invisible to the naked eye. The comet’s dust was road flare red, very fast and nearly verticle near before dawn. The dust meteorites were visible in the daylight too. Imo if this comet was going to come as close as Lee it would have been scrubbed from the internet just as Lee was for the most part.

Homeland inSecurity adds to the scenarios of doom. Since their budget and ever growing unconstitutonal power depends upon keeping Congress gripped in fear of disaster (and Katrina-like blame) and terrorism, they use contractors to cook up any and all possible danger to the US and then they get contractors to propose how Homeland inSecurity should spend their trillions to prepare. Possible domestic terrorists - Americans - are now added as potential enemies of the State.
So you see homeland security as the main “expert” authority for doomers churning out disjointed facts of dire disaster situations and you see FEMA buying survival supplies to handle each one - millions of coffin liners, body bags, emergency meals, police state and military drills and plans, stationing areas for people who survive the disaster or attack but who have lost their stuff (FEMA camps), etc. All the agencies are paid money and positions to “educate” their Federal employees on survival (like we saw at NASA) and to push the edgy mentality of massive and immenent danger (as if the government would do anything but kill and abuse a lot of people in a real disaster).
The military defense industry provides the same service for the miliatry as they compete for positions and funds each budget cycle. They churn out foreign military dangers and defense strategies and preparations. Homeland Security will become a fully militarized national homeland defense organization that they hope will become a endless source of income like the military is for the defense industry. Alot of the same contractors are working both agencies. Both use academic people and institutions to churn out possible danger, bad guys and combat plans. Ofcourse, the Feds need to buy a contractor’s defense weapon - airport nekkid scanners, for example. Given that academia is largely leftist and steeped in Marxist governing ideology, it becomes clear why Obama’s political opposition and white men in particular have joined Islamic terrorists to become a domestic terrorist threat to the State and why Americans find themselves being abused and their constitutional rights and government a thing of the past. They have weaved in watermelon enviornmental disaster, too. They will do anything to “save” us - espeically abuse and kill us.
To make a long story short, the government is the maker of doom scenarios and the feeder of parnoia and they do it for profit and power beyond the limits of the constitution. The main mission of every federal agency is growth in size (positions) power and money. Homeland inSecurity and it’s patriot act is the afterbirth of the press’ political demonization during Katrina and, ofcourse, 911. It is truly a growing police state nightmare for America and the allies that follow everything we do in the name of security in the “war on terror” and Federal disaster preparation.

I know I fail daily because I am here at Free Republic or watching TV instead of spending the time reading the Bible and serving him.
The thing is coming 22 million miles away from us. That is nearly ten times the distance from the moon. It is about a quarter of the way between us and the sun.
“Astronomically” it is pretty close, but relatively, it is still very, very far away. And its small. The chances of it hitting us or having us get something horrible from passing through its tail is just silly.
Silly...like if you are worried about it you should be more concerned about getting hit by lightning or you should play the lottery.
This is what happens when we do not allow kids to lose at soccer games when they are in Kindergarten: They all feel so special they almost “deserve” to get hit by a comet.

I remember the 2001 Leonids here in the midwest. A friend and I met up at about 1am, drove to a somewhat remote state park that was staying open for the event, and we were rewarded with about 1-per-second at maximum meteor shower.
I live in the proverbial suburbs so any attempt to walk out in the back yard and see a shooting star is almost pointless.

Imo if this comet was going to come as close as Lee it would have been scrubbed from the internet just as Lee was for the most part.
On the other hand, there are real and BIG near earth objects that have been sucessfully hidden from the public until the day after they pass without incident. So I am not saying taht the government - NASA - does not hide information from the public. But not elenin.
One thing I consider. The news meida is made up of largely extremely stupid people, educated in today’s dumbed down environment. They really can’t talk intellegently about anything to do with real science - including space. I suspect the media “hides” subjects in order to hide their stupidity and intellectual laziness.

In Christian end times disasters and signs in the sky are foretold. We don’t know what it is going to be and our preparation - beyond normal common sense preparation for disaster - is supposed to be spiritual in nature.
Our major preparation is cementing our relationship with God and helping others to do the same as best we can in service to God. We are not supposed to “set dates” nor forcasting possible scenarios beyond what the Bible provides. We are to watch for those signs described in the Bible. We are already saved - here or not.
Not to mention that Denver is suppose to be one of their top bases for evil.
