Extreme couponing appears to be a growing trend and in the current state of our nation's economy, who can blame coupon lovers for wanting to save money? Apparently WalMart can.
A Boise, Idaho woman claims she has been banned for life from the conglomerate retail chain, WalMart. It wasn't just one store that barred her from shopping there, but every store in the United States. The reason it happened was an argument over coupons.
April Cuevas, who has taken up the appropriately-titled hobby of "extreme couponing" in order to save money, stated that she was informed WalMart's policy known as "Ad Match" had undergone changes the previous week. As such, she took it upon herself to discuss these matters with one of the store managers and see if she could get a better grasp on the concept.

I worked 25 years at a commercial establishment that provided retail sales to the public. There are a number of reasons that a person can be banned from retail private property, many involving behavior.
When that happens, the person is informed and the local police are also informed in writing with the name, description and usually a photograph. A company security officer will not attempt to apprehend a trespasser until the legal requirements are on file with the police, the person has been informed, and the person has trespassed AFTER those requirements have been met. They will just be asked to leave.
April knew she was banned and was getting out before the cops arrived to make the arrest (SOP for retail trespassing).
Not to mention the state of the art electronic face recognition systems Walmart has installed in all of it's stores that put anything they have in Las Vegas casinos to shame.
Walter: “Welcome to Walmart - now get your sh*t and get out!”
Lord, I agree with you! These blasted corporations will do anything to avoid the simple act of reducing their price, coupons, double coupons, rebates etc. Watching my wife I have come to one conclusion it gets the ladies to look at their advertisements.
Seems like she could go into any Walmart she wants and just pay cash and leave.
coupon whisperer might need to get on this!
When Sam was alive, they would open up more registers...especially if there were three people in a line.
He would have had the interest of the customer at heart for sure.
Walmart and others today are trying to force more use of their self check-out stations. Thus the reduction in open lanes at the ‘express check-outs’, etc. More use of the self check-out reduces payroll to some extent I guess. I detest the self check-out approach but that’s the way it appears the companies are going.
You may live in a more upscale area than me. The walmarts in my area are populated with human debris. Trashy people, white and black. I will pay the extra 10% on merchandise to support a store that has service and a decent clientele.
“in fact they are former Israeli airport security capable of memorizing the faces of thousands of terrorists, shoplifters and extreme couponers and alerting store security when they try to enter the store.”
Hire them to replace all the groupers in TSA...
My experience with Walmart is that it's very easy to get in and find what you want, but when you go to check out at one of their 30 checkout stations, only 2 are open, even on a Friday at 6:00 pm.
Sadly, the Fox-TV story that the blog was based on isn’t really much better.
I wonder if the ban includes the drive-up pharmacy lanes. I’d be screwed without that. $4 prescriptions.
That's the way I've always shop, tho I don't hit that percentage very often, I still do pretty well.
Coupons are like barter. We’ll charge you less, if you know how to ask.
There are 2 WM's in my area, one adheres to this practice, the other doesn't.......it's an easy choice for me which one I frequent.
Don't tell PJ.
Does this involve any kind of climbing up supermarket shelves throwing coupons left and right?
