COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - An ordinary family trip to the zoo is anything but, as a female lion takes a special liking to a toddler visiting her exhibit.
The 400 pound lioness seemed very curious about the toddler. At one point she even looks like she's trying to eat the boy through the thick glass wall!
The boy's father filmed the entire encounter.
"I was definitely intimidated and a little, you know, it just seems like natural mother instinct to kind of want to pull him out of there, but he seemed to be having fun," said the mother Catherine Higley.

Teasing isn’t nice
I was at the San Diego Zoo and as I was walking by the Cheetah cage. Two small boys were at the front of the cage. The cheetah appeared to be sleeping at the top of a tree. But once the boys turned their backs to the cage, the cheetah flew out of the tree and dove at the boys. They were totally startled when the cat smashed into the glass right behind them.
That video was very hard to watch. I know my kid would have been in my arms and watching the anteaters after the first time the lioness tried to mouth my baby. Freaky.
Smart cat. Tried chewing at the gasket between the panes of glass to get through. One loose gasket and those stupid giggling parents would have been less one kid.
tell that lioness to watch out for the bones....
Kid was having fun.....nice video.
Thanks...
Silly man,
Kids are for Snacks...
There is nothing more pointless than explaining dangers to toddlers; they are developmentally incapable of learning from strings of words. Furthermore, the parents here are as incompetent as it gets.

STUPID HUMAN.
Another dangerous predator.
FWIW, the Colrado Springs zoo is a great place and, best of all, funded completely by private means.
I love cats. I also know that if my cat weighed a 100 pounds, I’d be in trouble. I’ve got a 100 pound dog and I have no worries.
This guy thinks the big cat was going to ‘mother’ his child? The baby was a meal; what a moron. I’m surprised he didn’t try to get into the enclosure.
No there aren't. I've got cats that weighs less than 10 pounds. When you're petting them; they can go from purring to handful of teeth and claws in a split second. Even at 10 pounds, I sometimes have a problem.
What happens when the 100 pound predator snaps? I would like to have a big cat from kitten size to start out. Even then, I know that their predator instincts will kick in sometimes.
Perhaps I should rephrase - there are big cats that are as friendly as housecats around. :P
You should ask the Russians about that one. 100lb canids aren’t exactly the safest either. See: Throwing people from the troika to the wolves...
