That's why, Shelton says, environmental justice is a civil rights issue.

Seems like everything is a civil rights issue these days; where's Rev. Al and Jesse?

So, not only is 'the man' holdingthemdown but the sun is too.

Gee, the descendants of Kings and Queens, who built the pyramids, can't catch a break.

I remember a while back during a particularly hot summer here in Mobile...Blacks in town complained that they were receiving no to little help from the city government coping with the heat.
It was couched in the tone that it was the responsibility of the city and that they were derelict on the issue.

The Black mayor finally succumbed to the pressure and began handing out large box fans in the Black community. Well, those weren't enough and the cry for AC's went out...the city began buying and giving away air conditioners in the Black community.
This quietened things down for a month or two until the power company started shutting down electrical service for non-payment to many of the people who received the free AC's. The Blacks complained that the city knew they couldn't affort the electricity when they handed out the AC's.(What were they thinking attitude)

I think the final solution was for the power company to 'forgive' 50% of the bill and the city would pay the other 50%.

I think the city has now designated some city buildings as 'cooling centers.' The complaint now is, "how does the city expect me to get there."

It never ends.

So we need to move all liberal-left minorities to Antarctica to keep them cool? Okay!

I heard a rumor libraries are air-conditioned.......

Of course the elderly and the young are more vulnerable to environmental stresses. But IMO - and that of my EMT son - most of these fatalities are due to complicatons stemming from dehydration, not ambient temperature, per se. IOW, preventable without “entitling” them to A/C. This just another “race card” being dealt. >PS

Jeez, there are probably a dozen government programs that help people pay their power bill. In many places it is also illegal to disconnect someone’s power if doing so will put their life in danger.

Take a cold shower! Most of us in the south growing up in the 50’s didn’t have AC. We picked up a magazine and fanned ourselves.

The way I see it, they have some choices here. They could sue God. Or they could ask the man they voted for enmasse why his economic policies has driven the unemployment numbers in the minority community into the stratosphere.
Right.
Like either of those choices are going to happen.

I see what’s coming.

First “Internet access is a human right” and this is going to end with “air conditioning is a human right” ... wait for “heat is a human right” come winter.

And who will pay for this ‘human right’ you ask? NAH, YOU didn’t ask, you already know the answer.

We all know the answer: Small business owners and the rapidly disappearing middle class, who else?

BLAME EPA and a gutless Congress for disallowing cheap electricity and refusing to rein in the EPA and the Enviro-weenies.

Don’t get me started, I won’t be able to fall asleep tonight.

Yes, let’s create a new tax on carbon dioxide, shut down our nuclear facilities, and strangle the domestic coal industry. All these measures will help greatly.
