WASHINGTON -- As of today all PDF versions of books published by the National Academies Press will be downloadable to anyone free of charge. This includes a current catalog of more than 4,000 books plus future reports produced by the Press. The mission of the National Academies Press (NAP) -- publisher for the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National Research Council -- is to disseminate the institutions' content as widely as possible while maintaining financial sustainability. To that end, NAP began offering free content online in 1994. Before todays announcement, all PDFs were free to download in developing countries, and 65 percent of them were available for free to any user.

I noticed, unfortunately, that the first thing up was a study on Anthropogenic Climate Change. Sad, really, but perhaps there is some useable information on the site in other areas.
I have bookmarked it for when there is more bandwidth available to me, and hope to find something useful.
I looked the site over.
What a load of crappy books!
You would have to pay most people to read that stuff.
I dunno...”Conducting Biosocial Surveys:Collecting, Storing, Accessing, and Protecting Biospecimens and Biodata” looks like a potential bestseller!
And don’t forget “Gender Differences at Critical Transitions in the Careers of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Faculty”!
A real page turner ;-)
" Ensuring the Quality, Credibility, and Relevance of U.S. Justice Statistics "
"Gender Differences at Critical Transitions in the Careers of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Faculty "
But no algebra, calculus or even basic math books.
Thank you very much for sharing the link. I am amazed at the “Head in the Sand” responses you are getting to this post.
There are some real good books available at this site. I downloaded the Cancer Biomarkers book.
It does look like an opportunity to look under the hood and check out all that mental horsepower we've been funding for all these years.
I have a feeling the Offenhauser we've been told was there is more like a Briggs, but examination will tell.
We'll have the chance to examine the thought foundations of the agendae out there, which could prove interesting.
Much of this stuff looks good in print until you find out someone rounded pi off to an interger early on in the calculations.
Fundamental foundational flaws in thought can topple intellectual castles of cards, and with the outcomes of so many programs what they are, I'd read everything with a critical eye.
Thanks - I downloaded a couple of titles.
Thank you for the information.
