The motives behind Glenn Becks recent trip to Israel now make more sense with his announcement Monday morning that he will be holding a major rally in Israel this summer.
I believe Ive been asked to stand in Jerusalem, Beck told his audience recounting a list of times in history when people and nations failed to stand with the Jewish people. Beck explained, as he has often in the last year, how the life and thinking of the German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer has influenced him: He asked people to stand for the Jewish people. He told of Bonhoeffers call for pastors to stand with him. Only six did.
Beck detailed current challenges facing the nation Things in Israel are going to get bad its only a matter of time.
They are going to attack the center of our faith, our common faith, and that is Jerusalem. And it wont be with bullets or bombs. It will be with a two-state solution that cuts off Jerusalem, the old city, to the rest of the world.
It is time to return inside the walls that surround Jerusalem and stand with people of all faiths all around the world.
The event will unfold under the designation Restoring Courage, with a clear intention that it serve as a step forward from last summers Restoring Honor rally held on 8/28 in Washington, D.C.
Beck explained that final dates and details are still coming together. He expects that there will be a full week of activities in Israel. There will also be ways for people to participate from here in the United States.
As full details become available they will be posted on Becks e-mail newsletter.
Beck explained that a trip like this will be really expensive for anyone wanting to participate. He said his team has been working on putting together packages that will make the trip as affordable as possible for as many as possible.
I dont know how many people will come, he said, But if we can gather seven then well have one more than Dietrich Bonhoeffer did.
Shouldn’t Glenn have this rally at his center for religious belief, Salt Lake?
Hope he’s done his homework.
Israeli politics are very complex and its easy for things to go bad very quickly.
It took me three months living/working in Haifa just begin to understand how things worked and still daily something popped up and surprised me.
No.
This will occur prior to the UN vote that wishes to divide Israel and, perhaps, split Jerusalem. IIRC, the vote comes in September.
Great point here...
I also suspect a whole lot of bad folks have just identified a huge new target of opportunity as well.
I’m all for a steadfast U.S. policy affirming solidarity with Israel. Not sure what this will accomplish.
That said, I heard the announcement on his show this morning, and he sincerely sounded as if he felt personally divinely inspired to do this, in which case, who am I to argue?
He'll probably take SLCity to Israel.
Hey. Just questioning with boldness, you sick twisted freak. “Dry up loser”? It looks like someone didn’t take their 40 day challenge seriously.
Do they not teach “humility” in the Mormon church? Glenn has none.
These big rallies to swell Glenn's already swollen (needing duck-tape) head, are embarrassing. He should be ashamed of himself. I think he is cracking up. He is a FALSE prophet! Follow him not, my Padawan.
STOP IT!!!
Loud mouthed American Mormon convert.... going to head to Israel to ...???
I have no doubt he’s going to have to fly in his preselected crowd for the TV visuals to look right.
I mean, I’m sure the printing shops in Israel will be happy to produce the signs and banners for the rally and all, and the security companies will love the overtime work, and somewhere a caterer will be be overjoyed supplying food to the production crew.
When other foreigners without residency permits try to organize and provoke religiously inspired public rallies in Israel , they are immediately arrested and deported, and blacklisted from re-entering Israel. This kind of cultish behavior is not uncommon, it happens EVERY SINGLE DAY, and there are three separate gov agencies that deal exclusively with monitoring and deporting foreigners bent on building cult following in Israel.
Barf....although I’ll give you Beck can be preachy and sometimes a bit “ego-inflated”, I believe he is doing good for this country, for Conservatives and for God.
I refuse to bash him or believe in this trash either. Mormon, Christian, Jew, Catholic...it doesn’t matter. We all want the same things for each other and this country (or at least we should) and for the most part, we ALL believe in the SAME God. So leave it alone.
The FACT that Jerusalem is unde attack is not bogus.
The FACT that Glenn Beck has been standing practically alone on the airwaves in support of Israel is not bogus.
The FACT that Glenn Beck undertands the meaning of Jerusalem to Christians and the BIBLICAL meaning of Jerusalem to Jews worldwide is not bogus.
The FACT that Glenn Beck is willing to put his body where his mouth is is NOT bogus nor is it without personal danger to himself.
The fact that Israel’s very survival is on the line is not bogus.
But your snide comment IS and it is highly uncalled for.
Stop what? I just have a problem with a guy who was a morning zoo radio guy 5 minutes ago being the arbiter now of what is just and right in the world. Especially when he is full of blatant contradictions.
Beck just returned from Israel, you fool. This is with the full and probably grateful, cooperation of the Israeli government or it wouldn’t be happening. You people that post this stuff are truly loathsome. This has nothing to do with Mormon, Catholic, Protestant, or Jew. It has to do with right and wrong
HE is right and YOU are wrong.
