global warming

Posted on 05/14/2011 10:14:28 PM PDT by minervx

i'm anti-kyoto, and anti- al gore, but the best way conservatives can persuade people to this, is to make better arguments.

conservatives need to do a better job arguing against global warming. they usually make 3 arguments which do not prove their point.

1. it is cold or snowing in one region of the world that is normally hot. some areas get colder, but global warming is about the overall change.

2. co2 is a necessity for human life. yes, but that doesnt mean much. venus has a lot of co2 for that matter.

3. temperatures were far higher than this century hundreds of thousands of years ago. true, but there is one difference: the industrial revolution. a global population of 5 million could survive global warming, but a global population of 9 billion cannot.

I don’t know that conservatives need to be making any argument at all. It is the hoaxers who have shoddy data and rampant public scandals (to many of them caught in lies) to be believed. Data either support their conclusions or it’s inconclusive at best. The fact that they either hide data that does not support their claims or simply make it up should cause any ration person to do a double take.
It's getting so bad for the hoaxers that they're now abandoning science. One "scientist" recently made the remarkably anti-scientific statement in defense of so-called AGW:
"Observational evidence is not very useful."
Hmm, and isn't the first part of the scientific method observation in order to gather observational evidence? (That was John Mitchell, chief scientist of the Met Office in Britain, who said that, BTW.)

The argument is clear. Zot or zot from global warming.

I find it useful and entertaining to mock warmists by calling them ice-worshippers or iceholes.

“...but global warming is about the overall change.”

Would those be real changes, exaggerated changes, theoretical changes or outright lies? Enlighten us.

“...venus has a lot of co2 for that matter. “

Cute. When Earth starts having the kind of volcanism and atmospheric density Venus has, we will have moved on to more important arguments and a new home. Meanwhile, how much CO2 is mankind contributing to our atmosphere, and why is it a bad thing? Do increases in CO2 cause increases in vegetation, causing decreases in CO2? Is that really unreasonable thinking?

“...temperatures were far higher than this century hundreds of thousands of years ago...”

Yeah, and in recorded history too. It wasn’t such a bad thing. A little warming might even be a good thing when it comes to producing food for billions of people, but it doesn’t seem like real temperatures are going to accommodate us in that endeavor. We are either going towards an ice age or away from one. Which is it now? If the former, let us hope man finds ways to impact our climate, or a lot of people are going to wonder why they are freezing during global warming.

But enough of my silliness. Tell us what you know.

Why should there be any argument about it? The democrats tried to screw the American tax payers as usual, period!

What is the correct temperature of the earth?

Thanks indeed. It is not our job to disprove. It is far easier to discredit. I'm reminded of the line from the silly flick Top Secret: "How do we know you're not Mel Torme?"

Waste of time. Most AGW believers do not care that there is no real link between the activity of man and the climate. To them, driving your car less “feels good” and is reason enough to subordinate your lifestyle to that way of thinking.
