Holy Mackerel! This might come as a big shock mainly to people who live in South Florida but the Miami Herald Circulation has now dropped BELOW that of the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. Here are the facts from a couple of reports:
The Miami Herald has a average weekday combined circulation of 173,555, with Sunday circulation of 217,163. El Nuevo Herald has a combined circulation of 57,743 daily and 72,504 daily.
ABC changed its reporting rules, replacing “total paid circulation” with “total average circulation,” which consists of a publication’s paid and verified print and digital circulation. Due to the change, ABC said it didn’t make any comparisons to prior periods.
Note the new DECEITFUL method of counting "verified print and digital circulation" in the total which means newspapers they GIVE AWAY to schools and other places. Not PAID circulation. In any event let us now compare this to the Sun-Sentinel daily circulation as reported in THE LEDGER:
The St. Petersburg Times remains Florida's largest newspaper, with total average weekday circulation of 292,441, followed by The Orlando Sentinel at 187,841, and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel at 174,641.
So comparing the two circulation numbers, the Sun-Sentinel now BEATS the Miami Herald daily circulation by about a thousand. Keep in mind that the REAL circulation of both newspapers is way below both totals which is now hidden due to the DECEITFUL new way of fraudulently reporting newspaper circulation to "hide the decline."
In any event it completely blows my mind that the Sun-Sentinel now has a larger circulation than the Miami Herald. When I was a kid in the Miami area, Ft. Lauderdale was considered a small satellite city to the north. It was like how Los Angeles would look upon Santa Barbara. And now the "small satellite city" has a greater newspaper circulation than the former colossus to the South.
I guess you sort of have to live or be from South Florida to appreciate the impact of this.

BTW, another reason that I like Broward County are the Friday/Saturday jerk pork/chicken meals served up in the industrial parks. This is the most OUTSTANDING method for cooking pork or chicken using the Jamaican jerk method and then smoke cooking it. You won't find this in most of the rest of the country but in South Florida it has become a tradition for Jamaican folks to cook this up in the industrial parks and sell to the local workers and to the general public. I always see a local cook, Carlton, who serves me up my meals in exchange for FREE stuff I get with coupons. Once I felt real generous and traded two Neuragen diabetes pain gels for a meal. Since each retails for $29.99 I often joke with Carlton that he got paid 60 bucks for one meal.
And in just an hour, I will be seeing Carlton for my Friday jerk meal. Probably will trade him several bottles of body wash or perhaps a Gillette razor kit for a meal. For me it is like a barter game.
Once you eat either jerk chicken or jerk pork, you will never again be satisfied with the regular barbeque versions of either.

2. Not the Jerk Machine. The best jerk cooking is in the industrial parks. On Saturday you can catch Carlton by going one block east on 19th Street from State Rd 7 and then making the first right on 38th street. In about half a block you will see smoke on the right. That is Carlton. BEST jerk pork/chicken in South Florida. And the prices are reasonable.
p.s. I have all store locations in Broward (and some in Palm Beach and Dade) hardwired into my brain.

The thing about good jerk is not just the level of the spiciness but the texture of the meat as well, especially the pork. It has a certain crunchiness mixed with softness that is hard to describe. Must be eaten to appreciate that texture.
There are plenty of Publix stores in the Atlanta area. I can get to three within 15 minutes.

p.s. One advantage of Georgia is they double coupons. The disadvantage is they don't offer you true BOGO. IOW if you use a BOGO coupon with a BOGO deal, you don't get both items FREE like you can in Florida. Last week picked up a lot of Bic razor packs for FREE that way.

These are the media’s ways; how they circle the wagons around each other for each other.
ABC’s higher ups are smart enough to know that they need ‘cover’ from newspapers, just as the newspapers need ABC’s(and other outlets) cover in order to do what they do.
The more the old media declines, the more dangerous of a position the find themselves in.
That’s why the left needs net neutrality so much. What’s the biggest threat to the old order? The internet.

I think (perhaps hope is better word) that the Old Orders really don't know what to do to stop the internet, and they're trying desperately to make something stick. The thing moves too fast for them to control it. Just when they think they've got the answer, it mutates.
I suggest that this is the first time in human history that humans have had the completely unfettered ability to interact worldwide. It scares the crap out of "The Man."

I thank God everyday for my Dad’s faith and courage. He became a cop for the HPD, where he served with distinction for the next 35 years.
South Florida back in the day was a wonderful place to raise kids, and be a kid. Today, well I already stated my thoughts about south Florida. I guess I saw the best when I was growing up, and what it is today is a sad counterfeit of those days.
