Where is the uprising of the people over the rising prices at the pump which is effecting everyone even if you don't drive. I visited a Sam's club today and paid on the average 10-30 % more for the same items that I normally purchase every 90-180 days. All this while our congress critters are globe trotting around the world with their wives and staff on our dime. If the President would open up drilling this would go away overnight...of course that won't happen...P O'd...you bet your sweet buns I am and so should all Americans! If every FReeper would contact their congress critter maybe we could start to see something happen...no guarantees but it beats sitting on our hands and doing nothing.
What would be the point of outrage? Would it make the price go down? Yeah it sucks paying so much, and it’s good to keep in mind who’s been screwing things up lately to make the prices this high next election round, but outrage is a pointless thing most of the time. It’s just anger for the sake of anger, and I outgrew that in my 20s.
At $5/gal, the average driver might pay $3000/year for gas. I pay more than that a quarter in property taxes alone, and I'm hardly rich.

I make it a point to ask everyone within hearing distance if they knew what the average price of gas was on Jan 21,2009. Have gotten some good conversations going.
American slaves will just pay it.
if they voted for the boy, tell they got what they voted for
Every presidential election year, you can hear the refrain "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?"
It is virtually impossible for a supermajority of voters to answer yes. The repubs just need to stay on message:
-economy and related things - gas prices, food prices, jobs, unemployment - this is the biggie
-taxes/deficit/debt
-borders/immigration
-Obamacare
The MSM can stay quiet on this all they want, but the price of gasoline is where we go. Unemployment is where we work. The price of bread is where we eat. Foreclosures and housing values are where we live. Screw 'em. They know that the Annointed One is toast.
I think the higher it goes the better the government likes it. the gas taxes are a percentage of the cost. which means the higher the prices the more money in taxes the government gets. They have no incentive to fight to lower the prices and every reason to cheer for them to raise.
Gas taxes are based on a per gallon basis....not a percentage.
