I went to breakfast this morning at Eat 'N Park in PIttsburgh. When I pulled into the parking lot, the spaces next to the handicapped spots were open so I thought, "Sweet! I"m gonna get a rock star parking spot" but as I pulled in, I noticed a sign posted in this spot that said "Reserved for Those Driving Hybrid Vehicles". I was PISSED! Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a new trend? Am I that out of the loop?
I know what you mean.
I have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy.
It is a very painful disorder.
It cannot be detected by looking at me.
I wouldn’t wish what I have on anyone, but I do wish folks wouldn’t be so judgmental.
I noticed the home office off the company I work for added “rock-star” hybrid parking. I went down to the motor pool and checked out a Pious for the day, peeled the “hybrid” decal off if it and glued it to the back of my rig.
Now I can park where I want and everybody is happy ;-)
Holy cow! That’s outrageous! I’ll check out the Eat n’ Park near where I live. If there’s a sign like that posted, I’ll be contacting the corporate office as well!
LOL!
“Unless its a city or state ordinance. F@#k em.”
Exactly. If there isn’t a municipal fine, then park where ever you want. Who cares what stupid signs say, anyway?
We have them in Kahleeforhneeyah as well. Sometimes I park in them and other times I don’t.
Wouldn’t my nice big car to be keyed.
LOL
Drive over the sign!

In case anyone would like to ask why.
A few years back Dennis Miller was selling “Hybrid” decals. Just slap one of those babies in your window and park away!
Make sure you tell them you won’t eat there again as long as those signs are up.
My parking lot at work has 2 spaces reserved for “low emissions/fuel efficient vehicles”.
I have an ordinary gas powered Toyota but I always make a point of parking in one of the spots.
As far as I’m concerned, when the car is parked and not running it is both “low emissions” and “fuel efficient”.
So far no one has called me on it yet, and I plan to give them an earful if they do.
My office building is a certified “green” building (meaning there is no hot water in the bathrooms so everyone keeps getting sick because they have to wash their hands in cold water, and you have to flush the toilet about 6 times to make it go down) and that’s probably why the spots are there.
I’m curious how a private business would enforce this.
Would they REALLY have a customer’s vehicle towed while he was eating in their restaurant? Somehow I doubt it.
Can the police write a ticket for parking in such a space, which is designated by the private business, not by the state or municipality? Somehow I doubt it. At least in most jurisdictions at this time. Subject to change as environmental hysteria advances.
So I suggest just ignoring the sign. What are they going to do about it?

Tell them it is a hybrid vehicle, because sometimes you have to push it down the street due to the high gas prices.
Wait a minute.
Is it a privately owned business? Does the owner of the restaurant own the parking lot? If so, he can restrict parking however and wherever the heck he wants. You don’t have to eat there. You don’t have to park there either. I support your right to be ticked. I support the owner’s right to say who he wants parking in which spots.
There are all kinds of reserved parking spaces for doctors, lawyers, executives, etc. All others get towed. Handicapped spaces are mandated by law. Everything else is up to the owner of the property. Is it not?
What am I missing?
You’re obviously a much nicer person than I am.
I’ve yelled “Whattaya want me to do? Hunch over and drag a leg like Quasimodo?”.
[very few people get that reference...public school system, I reckon]
;]
I do wish I could help you with your pain.
One of my best friends has MS.
90% of the time, anybody who’d tangle with her would be *very* sorry...but the other 10%, she’s totally non-functional, both mentally and physically.
She actually hauled a CA cop to his station to put in a formal complaint against him because he argued with her for parking in a H space when she “looked fine”.
CA laws state that a handicap vehicle can park *anywhere* if the spaces are all full and by God, she was gonna make sure he never made that mistake again.
She would up going around the various PDs educating the other LEOs on handicap parking rights at the PDs request.
Now *that* is precision parking!
Put a big pump bottle of hand sanitizer in the lady’s room with a sign that says “WASH WITH ME IF YOU WANT TO LIVE” and a picture of The Terminator on it.....:)
