The first thing that crossed my mind after reading this, is how do Alaskan king crabs in the far northern part of the globe wind up in the far southern part of the globe? There is an awful lot of ocean in between for them to traverse...even if they do have long legs.

Well if half the beaches here in MA are closed to the public because of a frigging bird then this argument is already settled.

Since King Crabs will be an invasive species in Antarctica, there will be no season, and no limits. Catch as many as you can and eat them.
I love it when good environmental stewardship aligns with excellent gastronomy.
May I remind all that it is well known that the only thing which assures direct reduction of the King Crab population is melted butter.

What I really need to know is why the culinary jackwagon who did this, did not transplant Maine Lobsters to that god-forsaken wasteland instead, so gratifyingly far from fishing limits? I mean those King Crab "things" are suitable for impressing gullible young prom dates, but the Homard is a horse of another color! As an added benefit, Muslims are allowed to taste neither, nor wash it down with a juicy blanc!

I heartily agree with other posters here. What an easy problem to solve! We must all do our bounden duty and eat them as fast as we can until they’re gone.
Since we’ll be performing a service to the environment, we should only have to pay shipping and handling, if that.
