Although Google has scrubbed much of it's past, using the waybackmachine.org can take you back as far as the mid '90's with millions of captured web pages with active links. Lots of fun and good for investigative purposes. When you type in a URL, pick "Show all". There is also advanced keyword search. Let's see who can come up with some interesting Blasts from the Past. I am starting with this one that I found on Free Republic dated April 14, 1998. Note: When you go back, only the highlighted days will have content.

Topic: White Water CLINTON CONVICTS LIST (4TH EDITION)

Exclusive to Whitewater File/FreeRepublic April 14, 1998 A WHITEWATER RESEARCHER

Below is my updated list of Clinton-related friends, colleagues, associates, and related business entities, who have been convicted of crimes, updated through April 14, 1998. Forty names, and counting! The format of the list is that the names are allocated to the various investigative categories, with each individual/entity named and accompanied by a brief description of the relevant crime(s) and a source of the information. I would like to update this list on an ongoing basis, further detailing precise charges, number of counts, punishment ordered and served, and sources.

For the Fourth Edition, we have added the names of two more Whitewater Clinton Convicts. Firstly, Eugene Fitzhugh, who pleaded guilty in 1994 to a misdemeanor count of trying to bribe David Hale. Fitzhugh was sentenced to ten months in prison, and is appealing that sentence. Secondly, Charles Matthews, who was Fitzhugh's co-defendant and who also pleaded guilty in 1994, to two misdemeanor counts of bribery. Matthews served fourteen months in prison.

I am sure my list is not complete. I thought long and hard about several names I ultimately excluded, or did not have enough information about. For example, Hillary Clinton's commodity broker, Red Bone. Bone was penalized by both the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, but I do not know if he was actually convicted of crimes.

Please enter your additions, corrections, and clarifications to the list on the reply string below. I hope to update and re-post this list, perhaps every month or so. I think the list will grow as time goes on.

See if you can see where I scooped Matt Drudge on the Blue Dress. Matt used to stage his article on his site with an easy to guess link. He had the siren up so I checked where I thought the story would be staged. Wammo the blue dress story was no on FR. Most didn’t believe me and thought I was making it up though...until drudge released the story and it was pretty much the same story with minor edits.

After that Matt no longer staged his articles in the same place...I wonder why?

Sen. Biden Questions Airstikes’
Drudge Report ^ | Wed Oct 24 2001 10:22:37 ET | Wilmington News Journal

Posted on 10/24/2001 10:47:54 PM by tomball

The top Democratic lawmaker on foreign policy said Monday that unless the bombing of Afghanistan ends “sooner rather than later,” America risks looking like a “high-tech bully,” the Wilmington News Journal reports.

“Every moment it goes on, it makes the aftermath problems more severe,” said Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.

Speaking to the Council on Foreign Relations, a nonpartisan group of foreign policy experts, Biden said he understands the bombing is required to help safeguard U.S. special forces operations, and that requirement creates a difficult balance.

Biden stressed that, like most Democrats, he has supported President Bush - but the “honeymoon’ might get rockier soon.”

“The longer the bombing goes on, the more susceptible we are to criticism, justified and unjustified, in the Islamic world,” he said.

“With every hour that passes, the United States pays an escalating price in the Arab world, and faces complaints that it is a high-tech bully that only attacks from the air.”

END

Somebody dug up the infamous Toiletman threads one time. For an idea of just how rough the old FR could get, those will do nicely.

It was either that one or the story about the blue dress. I really can’t remember that was a long time ago and that story was consuming the news at the time so it all kind of ran together in my mind.

Actually it wasn’t that one. I thought that was drudge and not a FR link. Hal 9000 did that one, but it wasn’t scooped from drudge.

My scoop clearly labeled it at the start that this is what Drudge is going to release later today or tomorrow.
