Wow! Nothing like that here in Huntsville, Alabama. The moon was slightly larger than normal when it rose earlier this evening but now it looks the same as always.

Remember too, the moon almost always looks larger as it rises from the horizon than it does when it reaches the middle of the sky.

Back in the sixties, serious articles and an entire book were written by conscientious and fastidious experimental Psychologists on "The Moon Illusion," offering empirical research and explanations for this phenomenon. But that was back when psychologists were actual scientists. Only relics like me remember such strenuous efforts.

We live in very tall trees so we just took a short drive to where we could see the moon. Saw it for a split second and the clouds move in and it was gone. It was big and beautiful for that split second.

Same here in Oklahoma - it appears to be a little bigger than a normal full moon.

So if the earth's closest distance to the moon is 221,565 miles, then what is the earth's furthest distance to the moon?

Um, Prolly just a simple calculation, I'm sure.
