Wall Street Journal and a Dutch PBS are interviewing my x-wife tomorrow about nuclear disasters

My wife was the closest pregnant civilian to TMI in Middletown PA when the event started she has a unique perspective on TMI, nuclear emergencies, Japan, and near melt downs.
Yet at this time she still does not see nuclear power as a bad thing!

Being that my x-wife was about a third of a mile from TMI as the event started. She lived in a farm house about 1/3 of a mile away.

Probably the closest civilian to the event! The state of PA and the Federal government issued their findings a few tears ago saying it was basically nothing.

Now my she was NEVER followed up nor interviewed by anyone about anything. She also came down with thyroid cancer requiring a major surgery and is still not okay at all. Rehnquist came down with Thyroid cancer about the same time, but he died (doctors maybe not as good):-).

They can not even find the cancer using radioactive iodine (one of a few in the world like that is (non-avid): So they don't know what to do from here because they can NOT find it's central point. But her tests all show she is still stage 4!

Now we-she can only try to manage her calcium levels and try to stay alive.;-)

Perfect proof the government does NOT really care about you. or her, and I! They never followed her and pretty much ignored her requests for any help, so she has with her own insurance paid it all along.

If any of you recognize me from my rants on here about Obama and the health care debacle and my M.S. you know I have always had a gripe about our government does not really care about us. As my x-wife and I always joke, we are some of the first on the governments lists for death panels.

That is it, just my rant and heads up, but at least the Wall street Journal will be one of the news outlets who will be here. The dutch PBS is also going to do an interview on Friday about this.

There have been probably a dozen news organizations who tried to talk to her but she (on my advice) only is allowing the two mentioned.

(Maybe now someone will also notice my situation and direct some aide my way:-)

Watch in the WSJ for the article after tomorrow.

There is a poster on here saying he lived downwind from TMI and it was no big deal...and all this talk about damage being done is just hysteria.

Your Ex-Wife’s situation shows that just might not be the case.

I do believe there is cause for concern.

Of course our government does not give a rip about us. No news there.

How is nuclear power a “bad thing”? People in our world get all manner of cancers all the time. Is there a huge amount of evidence that nuclear power plants cause a gigantic amount of cancer? No.

Sorry about the joke.

I didn’t see where she is stage 4 but no one can seem to find the cancer.

Intersting, but I don’t know if you are doing her any favors by giving out her email address. Might want to have the mods remove it unless it’s already public and she wants the correspondence.

That’s a nice hospital. I’ve been there.

Odd they can’t find the thing.

My wife says you are an A-h0le.

Unless there is a genetic link thyroid cancer is almost certainly from radioactive reasons. I showed her your date of starting on FR, and that you are a relative newbie on FR, but she stands by her first response as being correct and thinks you need a spanking like a nasty little kid.

Radiology, endocrinology, and surgeons all agree. and add that to UPMC where the surgery was conducted by one of the top neck surgeons in the world... at least that is what all the docs at Hershey have told her (about her surgeon).

No, no one is saying that it is no big thing, people are saying that it is not the monster disaster that the press are making it out to be. One person getting cancer is a personal disaster, but not of the magnitude that the press is portraying it to be. As Rush pointed out, more workers have died while working on wind farms than had died while working at nuclear power plants, until now.

Cancer clusters or environmental cancers occur all the time. Three kids from my sister’s Sunday school class died of brain tumors at twenty years old, all three lived most of their lives within a half mile of the church. Did the church kill them?

HA—funny! Fine. Think what you want.

It’s certainly not that I don’t believe it’s a terrible thing for people to be sick, but what is going on this past week is that the anti-nuclear power Left is going into overdrive exploiting this freak natural disaster in Japan to attack nuclear power plants.

The Left does not like ANY source of power and energy that we use, whether it be nuclear, natural gas, coal, gasoline, etc. They would like to see us all living in straw and mud huts, subsisting on grass, grubs and water from puddles.

I’m sorry you’re so hostile to my comments. When I stumbled on Free Republic has no bearing on any knowledge or wisdom I may possess—if any (ha).

Your FReeper snobbery does not add anything to your argument. You still didn’t tell me how nuclear power plants are a “bad thing,” or tell me where there is a preponderance of evidence that nuclear power plants are causing massive numbers of cancer cases in our world.

And Eva, she my wife is of the same thought lines as Ruah. She did not blame the TMI event but says nothing can be counted out, just as they are finding in Europe and Russia with Chernobyl.

Only of the neck surgery. As her surgeon said when they took out her thyroid, 64 lymph nodes, rebuilt her carotid and jugular, she was split like a fish you are cleaning. His words, not mine.
But it never gave her any specific fear or concern at the time... or even that much specific now.

that is a RIDICULOUS analogy.

Radiation has been shown to cause cancer.

A “CHURCH” has not been shown to cause cancer.

And yes, there is a poster saying that essentially TMI was not a big deal in terms of effects on those around it.

by the way, just because a Church doesn’t cause cancer doesn’t mean there isn’t something in the environment that is problematic . A high incidence of leukemia led to the discovery of toxic dumping in Woburn, Massachusetts ...but then again..you might have just gone around mocking people saying that nothing could be wrong.

“Your original comment was the hostile one, not hers.”

Personally I took your comment as what it was, she is the one who said you are an A-h0le.
My comment about your tenure here on FR is for what it is. If you took it badly, that is your problem, not mine.

Have a nice evening.

A “CHURCH” has not been shown to cause cancer.

You are right, but if it sits over a radon sink it could be. :-)
