The smoothest cigar for the best price I’ve ever had is “Omerta” by “Nat Sherman”. Robust flavor. Perfect for after a steak dinner with brandy!

I’ve never gone wrong with an H. Upman cigar.

Generally all of the top tier brands will be pretty solid though.

Cohiba, Onyx, H. Upman, Gloria Cubana, Monte Cristo, and Dunhill are all good.

Cubans are the best, but alas..

The brand I had in England was Punch, with the exchange rate at that time, they cost $5 each. (1980)

First find out whether a mild, medium or full bodied cigar is enjoyed, Macanudo is good for mild to medium, Punch has a nice full bodied Maduro wrapper cigar. How much you want to spend? Go online to Cigars International or other sites and they can guide you.

Does your recipient smoke cigars? If so find out what his brand of choice is, and SIZE, then buy him a box of ‘em.

If he does not smoke cigars you might want to get him a sampler of fine smokes in some kind of cute little humidor.

Personally, partner, am partial to Partagas.

Arturo Fuente makes wonderful cigars.

Don't waste the money on a Cohiba unless it's from Cuba.

Find out what brand he likes and buy that cigar or go to a cigar shop and talk to the owner. The owner will know suitable cigars to meet his taste as long as you already know which ones he likes. There are a million cigars with different tastes. Finding out your boss’s favorite length, shape and ring size will be an added bonus.

E-mail freeper Tejano Slim. He’s never steered me wrong. Cigars vary in intensity and flavor, so its’ best to know why type your boss enjoys. For example, Punch cigars are usually very bold, whereas, some Macanudos can be very mild. Both are excellent brands. I prefer Macanudos and Avos, but Monte Cristo, Cohiba, Punch and Dunhill are all top shelf labels. Go to a reputable cigar store and ask the manager for assistance.

Artueo Fuenta Hemingway series... mild good smoking good flavor, not always available.

Avo, creamy bold w/ mild spicy flavor.

Dunhill, cadillac of cigar and pipe world, most expensive, but may be well worth it if you want to impress.

Punch of Nicaragua, bold spicy lives up to it’s name sake.

Thompson Cigars in Tampa....they have some very nice sampler packages of fine cigars and even some deals including a humidor. The dark Maduro wrappers make a very fine cigar.

Gurkha Warlords a bit hefty, but nice.
Don Elias - good daily smoke, relatively inexpensive
Excaliber, are also good
CAO criollos
Nat Shermans are really nice and smooth.

As long as it is a good brand, he will probably appreciate what you get him. I think size is more important. I hate skinny cigars, and like a ring gauge of at least 50. I like toros the best, and also robustos and torpedoes. IMO, the fatter cigars smoke better than thin ones.

I order most of my cigars from CIGARS INTERNATIONAL. They have a great selection from el cheapo to medium price to off the charts. I usually buy mine from CI during one of their "daily deals". I recently ordered a daily deal of 5 Vegas torpedoes. 5 Vegas is a fairly affordable brand (that I believe is owned by CI). Other great brands have been mentioned that I like including La Gloria Cubana, Rocky Patel Sun Grown, Romeo y Julietta, Don Pepin Garcia, Punch, etc.

Don't get too hung up on Cuban cigars. A lot of great growers/cigar makers fled Cuba when the commies took over. They took their seeds with them and started new operations in countries with similar climates.
