Now we need laws to protect us from walking while talking on a cell phone ...
Oh, the humanity .....

honestly... I see folks everyday talking on their phone, walking and not paying the least bit of attention to cars. these folks step out into the street, without looking, just expecting cars to yield to their power..
it’s dumb... these are folks with very low survival instinct.

I regularly encounter pedestrians who cross against lights, when their light is red and traffic, with a green light, must stop or hit the pedestrian.
Oh yeah, the ped is usually quick to flash that middle finger at the drivers with the right of way.

I wonder if her family has been approached by trial lawyers yet?

This will be rolled into the statistics as a "Cell phone related traffic fatality" and used to bolster legislation against drivers.
Just like how people who die in fires that were started by cigarettes were also considered "smoking related deaths."

The "silver lining" in this story is that when the Mexicans finally take back California they will have been so Californicated by then that noone will notice the transfer of power.
Well, except for the improvement in soap opera talent...

People are run over by trains the same way. Is it Darwin or Murphy that’s thinning out the herd?

Just make it illegal to strike a pedestrian crossing the street while talking on a phone. If the law existed before, she probably would have lived.

We had a 20 year old girl killed here last year when she walked out in front of a light rail train wearing her Ipod headphones with a hoodie pulled down over her head. She ignored the flashing lights, ringing bells, and walked around the barricade and right in front of the train. She never knew what hit her.

AH! No SUV involved, so it must be the distracted pedestrian’s fault.
