He had been with AccuWeather for 32 years, helping to create the company that supplies radio and TV stations with weather forecasts and updates. Meteorologist Bastardi was AccuWeather's top long-range forecaster and was regularly seen handling hurricane predictions.
Now he has tendered his resignation, effective immediately. The company simply says that "Joe Bastardi is no longer with AccuWeather. You won't see more forecasts posted by him." Bastardi was known for his videos and forecasts on the pay-subscription "AccuWeather Pro" site.
He was also known for his disbelief of the theories of global warming. A Facebook page created by fans has a "Farewell to Joe Bastardi" page, with tributes pouring in that you can read here.

Bastardi was a big critic of global warming in the same town as Michael Mann.

Joe predicted before New Years that the east coast would be very cold for the weeks coming up. He was spot on.

That might be a cool thing. I don’t watch TV much, but I like Bastardi, I might tune in to catch some of that.
The guy is good, and fun to watch. If he got walked because of his ideas then Accuweather, whatever that is, done a stoopid thing. The guy is a winner.

Gotta give the guy credit for keeping that name professionally. I know I wouldn't have. He must have gone through hell in school. Kind of like a “boy named sue”.

Joe was a good cyber friend. I’d email him some detailed weather obs from my neck of the woods (especially during big snow events) and he’d send back some not-ready-for-prime time forecast information....usually spot on.
I’d wondered why my last email bounced back “undeliverable”....

May be Fox News is replacing Janice Dean with this guy. They did replace Dominica Davis with Maria Molina.
