As your example above shows, a citizen would be well within their constitutional rights to go armed inside the courthouse --- but, you'd better be prepared to go through all sorts of hell to defend that right, should you do so

I'm quite tempted to do so for a municipal or county courthouse, especially as the State Constitution also says: "No county or municipality shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms."

Just to give myself a bit more ammunition.

Looks like New Mexico's got a damn fine constitution. I need to read the corresponding sections of the Texas state constitution.

Is New Mexico also an open carry state? Can you carry concealed without a permit? Just curious.

You’re right Windflier, but we have not yet exhausted all other measures yet. But I do fear that it won’t take much more to raise the level of anger in our country. But I think when it overloads it won’t be coming from Patriots as us Freepers..it’ll come when the welfare recepiants no longer get their handouts....and the Democrates will use them to their advantage in every way.

I’ve found in the past week I simply have had to turn the TV off and cut down on news stories...even turned off Fox and radio. First time ever in my life to do so...but the only way I’ve found to regain balance with the emotional level within over the happenings we’re seeing today.

Yes.

>Can you carry concealed without a permit? Just curious.

Nope; the constitution says “but nothing herein shall be construed to allow the carrying of concealed weapons.”
Which, odd as it may sound, I am generally fine with; it is the codification of the “old west” realization that only those intent on breaking the law have a deep-abiding persistent need for concealing their weapons. {i.e. it is always in the interest of the law-breaker to appear unarmed and not-unusual when not engaged in violence: for the obvious reason that to avoid notice is to avoid pursuit/interdiction.}

I will venture to say that I know exactly how you feel my FRiend. I've been shifting between boiling anger and deep depression over the past year or so. The only thing that has kept me at the point of balance where I can continue to somewhat remain "functional" is by forcing myself to shut off my news/awareness activities for brief periods of time. I force myself to either concentrate on my work and/or escape from reality by diving into pro/college sports. I am pretty much disgusted with what has been going on (virtually unchecked except for brief instances here and there) for decades. Our country (and Western civilization as a whole) has been under a constant attack that has been grinding down everything that this Nation was founded upon. (See Agrenda: Grinding America Down if you haven't already.)

There are 3 things that have become particularly grating to me of late:
1. With each passing day I become more firmly convinced that the role of the media is becoming more and more deadly. Rather than exposing the ruthless lawlessness that is over running our society, it is doing just the opposite (blatant propagandizing, hiding the truth, and distorting coverage of important events). Just think about how the blatantly lawless behavior of the regime is simply ignored or white-washed on a daily basis, how any courageous attempts at standing up for the Constitution or our Natural Rights are immediately vilified and slandered, how any modest attempts at "budget cutting" (which at this point have been akin to placing a cotton swab on an open gushing wound) are cast as draconian and "evil."
2. When I think about the relatively small number of my countrymen that are actually aware of what we are living through, I can't describe how painful the rest of the thoughts are that follow. We are still living through the state in which our relative comfort (which was only made possible by the acknowledgment and respect for First Principles upon our founding) and the purposeful barrage of media & "entertainment" (that have served first and foremost to kill off our Spiritual nature as men and a nation) still renders a vast proportion of the population in the "fat and happy" category that both blinds and paralyzes. As we stand poised to confront an existential threat coming from many forces (both within and outside of our borders), for the most part our population is consumed with trying to maintain a dream world that reinforces the anachronistic notions that "this is America, nothing like that can happen here" and "electing more Republicans will take care of it." (Of course that only covers those that even have a scent that something is wrong, no need to speak about those that are actively cheering it all on.)
3. I become more convinced each passing day that the "nutshell" of the philosophy of the Left can be summarized as the total abrogation of all Natural Rights and Natural Law. This has been, and continues to be, an all out assault; any unvarnished view of mankind's history bears this out all too clearly. And as should be expected, the pace and fury of the attack is quickly heading toward a crescendo (this is why you can feel your blood boiling on any given day that you or I decide to keep our eyes & ears open).

So, I can't say much to talk you or anyone else down, nor do I believe that any one should. The only "advise" that I can offer is to find a constructive way of "escaping" from time to time to avoid stroking out. Maybe it is a keen focus on work, family interests, preparation planning -- something that can let you take a breathe and maintain your personal effectiveness as a human and a Patriot.

When will the line be drawn that we can rally enough like minded Patriots to defend? So many of us have our ultimate individual/family lines drawn and we will defend them at all costs, but at that point it may be far too late for the Nation. Everyday the enemy keeps advancing in steady small increments; to the point that for many that are even aware of what is happening, we shrug our shoulders, mutter our curses (and hopefully prayers!), and think in the back of our minds "well maybe the next infringement or outright loss of our rights will be the one."

So no, I guess no one would label me as someone brimming with optimism at this point (which is sorta, kinda funny in a perverse sense since I was very much so for almost 5 decades before I began the process of getting my head out of the bucket of sand). I will be totally honest, as painful as it is for me to even think these thoughts no less type them in, I place very low odds on anything happening in this country to turn things around before the decline and onslaught forces a total reset. I just hope and pray that enough young people that have embraced our First Principles and understand and revere Natural Rights are able to survive to make a difference on the other side.

Thank you for sharing all those thoughts with us, zzee. You eloquently speak to the main points in my initial post, and opened them up even further than I did. Much food for thought there.

As to what I do when it all becomes too much, I do have my diversions. Family, work, and entertainment are the chief ones. Thank goodness that JimRob had the wisdom to include the Chat forum here. I find it’s a great place to take a break with fellow patriots, and discuss things unrelated to current events.

Alright my friend. Thank you again for your post. I think it contributed greatly to this conversation.

...we have not yet exhausted all other measures yet.

I think that's true. We haven't yet mounted a sustained protest in DC - one that goes around the clock, and continues until we get some redress from our government. Such a protest is a step up from a one day, organized event, such as we've had before.

There is also civil disobedience, which can take a multitude of forms. That's also a step up from what we've been doing, yet still far short of the final step.

Back in the days when men in the civil society regularly carried openly as a matter of course, it only made sense that anyone who carried concealed was suspect, and was probably up to no good.

Funny how that's now reversed in our culture.

Look at my tagline ...

Sans Christian revival, we are government slaves, or nuked by China/Russia when we revolt

Well, I'm one of the local "John Titor nuts" here and your tagline sort of makes it a bit like that. I'd like to see more proof, it could be just a story put out by someone/some group that is a combination of religious, conservative and libertarian philosophies. To make a long story short, Titor was a alleged time traveller who spoke of a Civil War II. The way I understand it is you have more of the rural and suburban conservative/libertarian rebels vs. the Urban more liberal crowd. The Russians and Red Chinese panic and nuke some of the big cities which are liberal strongholds which in n interesting twist, the rebels are even grateful to them. We are not "EMPed" either because the Russians and Red Chinese knew that we needed what was left to rebuild.

I know a but out of right field here but I wanted to share this angle.

Yeah, I have to do that at times too. I am a delivery driver so I listen to talkshows all day. Still when I start to get full, I like to listen to my "oldies 1980's music" on various stations. A side note, I can't believe the music I listened to in the 1970's and 1980's as a kid are oldies now. B-) There are times I have to fire up the computer and play Diablo for a time or my Playstation. Yeah, I look at it this way, we are like soldiers fighting for freedom but there are times we need a little R&R. B-) If the balloon ever goes up and you hear the battle cry "I miss the 1980's!" chances are it's me. B-)

Politically, crush the Democrats, see them scattered before us, and hear the lamentation of their women.

My thoughts too. I might put this in my tagline stable.

Thank you brother for taking the initiative to start a thread like this. I actually feel a bit better after venting a bit. Went to the market, picked up a few extra storage items, got a pot roast on the stove and am going to relax and watch the race. Maybe even throw a few logs in the fireplace later since it is a bit damp and rainy around here today. A little bit of an “escape” from the daily grind!

Thank you (and everyone else on the thread) for allowing me the space to vent my frustrations a bit. As I was telling a fellow Freeper on the phone yesterday, that's probably all I needed.

I suppose I just had too much bottled up, and needed to relieve some pressure. Thanks for listening, and for participating. I got a lot of great advice and viewpoints from you all.

I think an on-going prayer vigil by a few rotating thousand at the White House would be quite unnerving and very effective.

Just getting back. I appreciate the verse you posted. I feel the way you described often and have prayed similarly. I admit, at times it looks quite bleak for America.

I feel the most depressed about it when I hear so many people afraid or concerned and when I suggest “having a firm reliance on Divine Providence” it’s as if no words came from my mouth. Sometimes it seems people can’t even say “God” out loud. (Except in an expletive!)

But slowly people are waking up to the truth of this thing, and it is so encouraging to meet verbally with folks like you who can share these same sentiments. I will keep praying, as I know that is more powerful than any army, and I know you will, too, as are many others.

Yes, we have made a mess of things through our creeping “idol” worship of the “American Dream” which has translated into possessions and status, rather than liberty and freedom. But, there is hope glinting through the fog—we must keep striving through the “pain” focusing on that hope, and the country that emerges will be a true shining light.

If that is God’s will, of course.

God Bless, Butterdezillion! Thank you for your prayers for our country!

Catastrophe isn’t a pleasant thing to contemplate, prepare for endlessly, be reminded of every day. So...we drift into complacency. It is natural, and comforting. It is also dangerous.

After Pearl Harbor: “Are we REALLY at war?”

After the Blitzkrieg, was the “SitzKrieg”... a period of inaction during which it was hoped boredom would set in.

The enemy doesn’t have a short attention span.This isn’t a sprint.
