There are 3 things that have become particularly grating to me of late:
1. With each passing day I become more firmly convinced that the role of the media is becoming more and more deadly. Rather than exposing the ruthless lawlessness that is over running our society, it is doing just the opposite (blatant propagandizing, hiding the truth, and distorting coverage of important events). Just think about how the blatantly lawless behavior of the regime is simply ignored or white-washed on a daily basis, how any courageous attempts at standing up for the Constitution or our Natural Rights are immediately vilified and slandered, how any modest attempts at "budget cutting" (which at this point have been akin to placing a cotton swab on an open gushing wound) are cast as draconian and "evil."
2. When I think about the relatively small number of my countrymen that are actually aware of what we are living through, I can't describe how painful the rest of the thoughts are that follow. We are still living through the state in which our relative comfort (which was only made possible by the acknowledgment and respect for First Principles upon our founding) and the purposeful barrage of media & "entertainment" (that have served first and foremost to kill off our Spiritual nature as men and a nation) still renders a vast proportion of the population in the "fat and happy" category that both blinds and paralyzes. As we stand poised to confront an existential threat coming from many forces (both within and outside of our borders), for the most part our population is consumed with trying to maintain a dream world that reinforces the anachronistic notions that "this is America, nothing like that can happen here" and "electing more Republicans will take care of it." (Of course that only covers those that even have a scent that something is wrong, no need to speak about those that are actively cheering it all on.)
3. I become more convinced each passing day that the "nutshell" of the philosophy of the Left can be summarized as the total abrogation of all Natural Rights and Natural Law. This has been, and continues to be, an all out assault; any unvarnished view of mankind's history bears this out all too clearly. And as should be expected, the pace and fury of the attack is quickly heading toward a crescendo (this is why you can feel your blood boiling on any given day that you or I decide to keep our eyes & ears open).
So, I can't say much to talk you or anyone else down, nor do I believe that any one should. The only "advise" that I can offer is to find a constructive way of "escaping" from time to time to avoid stroking out. Maybe it is a keen focus on work, family interests, preparation planning -- something that can let you take a breathe and maintain your personal effectiveness as a human and a Patriot.
When will the line be drawn that we can rally enough like minded Patriots to defend? So many of us have our ultimate individual/family lines drawn and we will defend them at all costs, but at that point it may be far too late for the Nation. Everyday the enemy keeps advancing in steady small increments; to the point that for many that are even aware of what is happening, we shrug our shoulders, mutter our curses (and hopefully prayers!), and think in the back of our minds "well maybe the next infringement or outright loss of our rights will be the one."
So no, I guess no one would label me as someone brimming with optimism at this point (which is sorta, kinda funny in a perverse sense since I was very much so for almost 5 decades before I began the process of getting my head out of the bucket of sand). I will be totally honest, as painful as it is for me to even think these thoughts no less type them in, I place very low odds on anything happening in this country to turn things around before the decline and onslaught forces a total reset. I just hope and pray that enough young people that have embraced our First Principles and understand and revere Natural Rights are able to survive to make a difference on the other side.
Thank you for sharing all those thoughts with us, zzee. You eloquently speak to the main points in my initial post, and opened them up even further than I did. Much food for thought there.
As to what I do when it all becomes too much, I do have my diversions. Family, work, and entertainment are the chief ones. Thank goodness that JimRob had the wisdom to include the Chat forum here. I find it’s a great place to take a break with fellow patriots, and discuss things unrelated to current events.
Alright my friend. Thank you again for your post. I think it contributed greatly to this conversation.
