You take care of yourself. There was something going on around here that people had a hard time getting rid of. My oldest son went through 2 rounds of antibiotics before he got over his. Makes you feel rough, I know. Hope you’re well soon, Conor!

Some "Senior" personal ads seen the "theVillages" Florida newspapers:

Who says seniors don't have a sense of humor?

FOXY LADY:
Sexy, fashion-conscious blue-haired beauty,
80's, slim 5'4" (used to be 5'6"),
searching for sharp-looking,sharp-dressing companion.
Matching white shoes and belt a plus.

LONG_TERM COMMITMENT:
Recent widow who has just buried fourth husband,
and am looking for someone to round out a six-unit plot.
Dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath not a problem.

SERENITY NOW:
I am into solitude, long walks, sunrises,
the ocean, yoga and meditation.
If you are the silent type, let's get together,
take our hearing aids out and enjoy quiet times.

That Marine reminds me of my time I was enrolled in diving school (’66) in Subic Bay. We had 14 RECON Marines in the SCUBA phase of the class.

What a great bunch of guys, 2 2LT’s and the rest enlisted. The caliber of these men were equal to this Marine you’ve shared. Went on liberty with ‘em a couple of times. They could party hearty, but when it came to performing their duties in class, You couldn’t ask for a better bunch of guys.

Salute!

Hope those antibiotics knock down what’s ailing ya, Doc.

So far, any bugs have stayed clear... must be they recognize a stubborn old squid and have stayed away. Maybe an occasional visit from my old friend Jim Beam has scared those bugs away.

I did come face to face with one of those heartless souls. The anger I felt towards that individual taxed every bit of self-control.

God’s Answers
March 16, 2011

Daniel poured out his heart to God (Dan. 9:2). He had read Jeremiah and rediscovered God’s promise that Israel’s captivity in Babylon would last 70 years. So, in an effort to represent his people before God, Daniel fasted and prayed. He pleaded with God not to delay in rescuing His people (v.19).

When we pray, there are things we can know and other things we cannot. For instance, we have the assurance that God will hear our prayer if we know Him as our heavenly Father through faith in Jesus, and we know that His answer will come according to His will. But we don’t know when the answer will come or what it will be.

For Daniel, the answer to his prayer came in miraculous fashion, and it came immediately. While he was praying, the angel Gabriel arrived to provide the answer. But the nature of the answer was as surprising as the quick reply. While Daniel asked God about “70 years,” the answer was about a prophetic “70 weeks of years.” Daniel asked God for an answer about the here and now, but God’s answer had to do with events thousands of years into the future.

Focused as we are with our immediate situation, we may be shocked by God’s answer. Yet we can know that the answer will be for His glory.

I know not by what methods rare,
But this I know—God answers prayer;
I leave my prayers with Him alone,
Whose will is wiser than my own. —Hickok

God’s answers to our prayers may exceed our expectations.

Daniel 9:20-27 (New King James Version)

The Seventy-Weeks Prophecy

20 Now while I was speaking, praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God,
21 yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, reached me about the time of the evening offering.
22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, “O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand.
23 At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision:

24 “ Seventy weeks[a] are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of[b] sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness,
To seal up vision and prophecy,
And to anoint the Most Holy.

25 “ Know therefore and understand,
That from the going forth of the command
To restore and build Jerusalem
Until Messiah the Prince,
There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks;
The street[c] shall be built again, and the wall,[d]
Even in troublesome times.

26 “ And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.”

Forgive us, Father, faithful, sovereign, righteous, just, we are sinners, we doubt thy Word, we fail to be obedient, we we go our own way, all the while believing it is okay to be headstrong and rebellious. Have mercy on us Father, we know not what we do. Help us have eyes to see and ears to hear, and to tell our brethren thy gospel. The blind leading the blind and both fall in the ditch. We cry for forgiveness. We love thee and seek thy presence. In Jesus name, amen.

Thanks so much Amy, I appreciate that considering how bad I am about getting to replies! Monday and Tuesday I worked on my computer. Got rid of AVAST and downloaded AVG. Moved files to an external hard drive. Deleted cookies and cache, etc, etc.

I have been able to surf the web but it’s like Free Republic was blocking me, lol. Anyway, I got here now and it’s nice to ‘see’ you too! No need to reply, lol, I am SO backed up on replies!

Thanks teenie. I can get the pager to come on, but it doesn’t stay on. All through the years I counted on the Pager to PING me to replies but the ‘ping’ sound stopped long ago and I miss it.

Wishing you a great week too!
