Afternoon, Amy.
I’ve been following the info out of Japan. I turned on the TV (KCRA 3)to watch the 11 pm news on Thursday after seeing the first posting on FR. The normally 1/2 hour broadcast became 1 hour +. I turned off at midnight and went to bed.
During my NavyDaz I spent time in Yokosuka and Sasebo. Love Japan. We’re not ones to simply say, “That’s too bad” and move along with our lives. This has a very deep effect on mrsdd and me.

Oh my! What pictures!!! I actually don’t what else to say.
To: Kitty Mittens
What a cute puppy! *hugs* to you, too!
To: geologist
Geologist: I have always wondered, too, so I looked it up and this is the answer I got. It sounds very likely to be true!
Both Jonquils and Daffodils are both Narcissus sp., but a Jonquil usually refers to the native (Portugal/Spain) species (Narcissus jonquilla) or those which are similar in appearance to the native Jonquils. Jonquils are typically smaller flowering - where as Daffodil is usually a larger trumpet flower.
There are various "classifications" (13 classes) of Daffodil varieties and their characteristics vary from each class. Jonquils (I believe) refer to these single and native type of "species-like" narcissus. They are smaller and more clustered v. a typical hybridized Daffodil. Jonquils are (typically) clustered and smaller - similar to a "paper white" in the size of the blooms.

Awwww, does it have something on its head? My eyes are sorta deceiving me!
I know many pets, dogs and cats, perished in that disaster, along with their owners....sad, too.

I have always said “I wish my flowers grew as fast as my weeds.” Isn’t it the truth?

All we can say is “People love their pets all over the world and that makes me happy.” Many people perished with their pets. God Bless Them All.

Dave, this has been just horrible for all of us. We were so grieved Friday and Saturday, we hardly posted anything. We were all in deep mourning here at Amy’s and still are. Its even hard to put into words the deep sorrow we all feel.

I wish my flowers grew as fast as my weeds.LOL...been saying that myself for years! (But I also include the lawn! Two days of rain and when the sun comes out I swear it grows 5 inches in one day!)
To: oldteen
You are absolutely correct about the lawn. Re: the weeds, I can grow the best weeds of anyone. Pull’em up with the roots and they will come back up again! Must be my green thumb....ROFL!

My fear is this is going to be a very, very, long recovery for Japan. All the shaking and exploding that is still going on must be so very scary and un-nerving for all of them. I don't know that I could handle it.
The last earthquake I felt was the Loma Prieta in '89 and I was 80+ miles away! Scared the bejeepers outta me! My house was rolling big time! Can't imagine being near the epicenter of one! And then a tsunami on top of that? NO!
Prayers continue for their safety and recovery!
