now I didn’t
I thought it was an interesting revelation of how it got started.
All of the parties involved were very well compensated ... way beyond what they deserved under the circumstances
I don’t know of any of the big recent internet related things that have NOT had the legal /lawsuit issues and major controversy.
Most of them do NOT have such a young & wealthy sole entrepreneur NOR have a book written on it from which to piggy back
The brothers in line with hand out? IDEAS are cheap. I think it was Einstein that mentioned that ideas are all over the place. The touch of genius is the person who DOES something with the ideas. The ideas the brother’s gave was NOT copyrighted or protected.
A conservative judge would have probably given them nothing
Oh, poor Josy! I’m glad she seems better this morning. Just sent another prayer.
Hi DollyCali! As long as it is not heavyduty, please put me on your pinglist! I love movies. BTW, I enjoyed your quotes in your profile, especially the Patton ones.
I have added you. Welcome
In next few days particularly I wont be pinging many threads as they will be follow up & essentially have the major points covered in this thread.
AND the added reason is most will be follow up posts from the I Hate The Award’s Thread, getting in another stab to trash the movies
Melissa Leo - best known for playin' the redhead Cop in "Homicide: Life On The Street" on TV ...
Was nominated as Best Actress 2 years ago for a small indie ["Frozen River"] and shoulda won ...
Unfortunately, all anyone will remember about last night is that she dropped the "F-Bomb" in her speech ...
IMHO - 84th ...
thanks re: Josy!
I have added you. Welcome!
She isn't stunningly attractive - look at her in "Homicide: Life On The Street", and other earlier work. I saw her on Tavis Smiley doing interviews b4 the Oscars and [of course] last night. I am surprised she didn't thank her plastic surgeon ...
Hi, Dolly:
Haven’t watched the Academy Award show since George C. Scott won for ‘Patton’. Haven’t cared for it or the Academy since then, either.
Spent last night reading and following Nikki Finkke’s Live Blogging of the event. Which was a SCREAM! Superb Snarking throughout.
As I understand it, the show was a complete and utter EPIC FAIL!!!
Jack.
Hi Jack, I suppose you will get a YEA or NAY depending on whom you ask.
I felt it dragged (they all do) but I had seen all movies except one & so was sufficiently engaged. As usual there were a lot & long commercials
The two young hosts suffered from a miserable script.. it was awful & they were young & inexperienced enough to not know how to overcome it.
Bottom line for me was it was a great night. I gave my review a couple posts up.
"Despite the many worthy nominated films, the Oscarcast was painfully dull, slow, witless, and hosted by the ill-matched James Franco and Anne Hathaway. She might have made a delightful foil for another partner, but Franco had a deer-in-the-headlights manner and read his lines robotically."
"Incredibly, when former host Billy Crystal came onstage about two hours into the show, he got the first laughs all evening. This was the worst Oscarcast I've ever endured. It's time for the Board of Governors to have a long, sad talk with itself."
Ending with last paragraph:
"Again, I have to say this was the worst Oscarcast I've seen, and I go back a while. Some great winners, a nice distribution of awards, but the show? Dead. In. The. Water."
I agree on the overall show being subpar (worse? not sure. maybe) but I did enjoy it bottom line
I am not a huge fan of Roger Eberts BTW. He is pretty egotistical & like many of us judgmental.. but he is considered an expert reviewer & so has an audience
Just stopped by to check out the winners....Looks like True Grit got skunked

Ouch! That story about Josy made me cringe. Hope and pray that she continues to heal.
You’re a good mom, Dolly!
(P.S. Please add me to the ping list.)
Hey, love your tagline!
I’m not a Randy Newman fan, so your comment’s fine.
Sorry I couldn’t be here for the live thread, but I did watch the show.
:^)
Hah! Exactly, my friend. Halle, as usual, is spouting baloney. In a pre-show interview, she refers to herself as a "woman of color." Pleeeease. I could punch her in the nose. Halle is BI-RACIAL. She is NOT a "black woman." Nice way to over and over slap your white mother in the face, Halle. The mother who stood by you and supported you through thick and thin. Meanwhile, where was your black Dad? Just asking....
i have added you. Welcome
Thanks for your Josy comments. She seems to be doing okay today. I am feeding her watered down food which she is gobbling up .. when I take her & Toby in back yard she immediately grabs sticks (her MO)
All I know about the show is what I read here and Drudge. Off hand, I think Bob Hope did a better job, and the hosts were not up to David Niven’s comment on that Streaker. Didn’t realize that I wasn’t on your ping list, so please add me!
