Genghis Khan's Mongol invasion in the 13th and 14th centuries was so vast that it may have been the first instance in history of a single culture causing man-made climate change, according to new research out of the Carnegie Institution's Department of Global Ecology, reports Mongabay.com. Unlike modern day climate change, however, the Mongol invasion cooled the planet, effectively scrubbing around 700 million tons of carbon from the atmosphere.
So how did Genghis Khan, one of history's cruelest conquerors, earn such a glowing environmental report card? The reality may be a bit difficult for today's environmentalists to stomach, but Khan did it the same way he built his empire with a high body count ...

NO it isn't, that is exactly what they want, everyone who isn't a rich white liberal, should just die, so the rich white liberals can have the planet to themselves.

I’ll bet we won’t see any stories about Christopher Columbus’ “green legacy”.

Hitler was good this way. And Stalin. And Mao. They helped green the earth by killing about a hundred million people. Sniff. The world just doesn't make heroes like that anymore. Al Gore tries, but he just doesn't have the real commitment that Hitler had.

The reality may be a bit difficult for today's environmentalists to stomach... then again, MAYbe not.

Absolutely not because Columbus instigated the western natural resource thievery of North and South America.

So let them drink the kool-aid , literally, and then we’ll see. We’ll definitely bury them in a green way

I am also getting the suspicion that they may try to use Genghis Khan to explain the Little Ice Age? This was my first thought when I read the article.

Death Disease Pestilence and War. Solving global warming one disaster at a time. And since they ride horses they are totally carbon neutral.

To: ozzymandus
Yeah, European diseases wiping out indigenous North and South American populations was a good thing by the article’s logic.

So the lesson here for the eco-conscious is; truly caring stewards of the planet like to drive their enemies before them and hear the lamentations of their women.

This environmental “theory” gave me a good laugh. Mongolian empire climate change! They didn’t even need factories or cars.
