Sig Sauer

Posted on 02/18/2011 9:27:30 PM PST by blarney

Since retiring from the military I have been a firm supporter of concealed carry. I am personally a fan of 1911 pistols and have had the pleasure of carrying many different types of 1911.

The cop gun I have is blued. It is that barrel and grip. Fun piece.

I am a 70's guy. This is my wagon. 1976 Catalina Pontiac. I loved everything about the time except the retard running things.

The Vista next to it is mine too. 455 4 barrel duel exhaust model.

"CZ’s are fantastic weapons but I have a problem with the trigger positioning on the pistols as my fingers are too short to get a good pull."

And that's why I qualified my statement with, "To each his own." If you have to have a Sig, by all means go buy one. I'll spend the difference on ammo and accesories. I've shot a number of Sigs and CZ's and they handle equally well. The ergonomics of the CZ suit me better, and while their price is creeping up as of late, most models can still be had for substantially less than a comparable Sig.

It is a beautiful piece of worksmanship. Quality all the way around. I especially love the rosewood grips on the Elite models.

Ah! So yours is a 586 as well. The only difference between those two models is that the 586’s are blue and the 686’s are stainless. Other than that, they’re the same gun.

I love ‘em both. Though... the stainless one is a b!7$# to get really clean. :-)

Yah. It was the rosewood grips that really pushed me over the edge on my day of weakness at the gun store. :-)

Problem is... a set of Hogue thin rubber grips would probably fit my hands better. But I just can’t bring myself to pull off those rosewood grips. After several boxes of shells I’ve apparently talked myself into really liking the somewhat fatter grip.

Gotta be honest, I shot it the day I picked it up and I lost my mind. This is probably one of the best sidearms I have ever shot it ranks up there with my Operator, Kimber and far outshoots my colt commander. It’s not quite Les Baer but wow it’s one smooth shooter.

Not really. My wife hits the center better than me with it and she is usually in 4 inch heels. She is hard core though. I just carry a 380 Bryco for protection and that is what I use at the range. It is like a water pistol.

I have rosewood just like this on my S&W Model 27 .357 Magnum so I fully understand. I also have it on my Ruger GP100. It really looks and feels magnificent doesn’t it?

You are right about the grip especially with a big bopper like a .45. I have one Sig and four Glocks with my shooting preferences being inclined towards combat, tactical shooting. My Glock 21 SF has the thinner grip than the standard full size Glock 21/20 receiver and is a joy to shoot. It is my duty gun for home with law enforcement grade Corbon .45 +P ammo, a nightmare for a would be intruder

Someday soon I hope to able to afford a *Sig*. Until then I’ll have to make due with my CZ-75 and Ruger GP-100.

I don’t have any firearms.

They were all lost in a freak voting accident a couple years ago.

*snicker*

Here is my favorite CZ. This custom Valor was built to my personal specifications two years ago, and upon its completion became the prototype for the Dan Wesson VBOB which is now in production.

After I received it, I had custom grips built to the same ergonomics as KN Nill (German) grips.

Very nice, but I like the look, the aesthetic balance if you will, of the custom made factory grips.

...[ducks]....

Don’t have the words to describe how beautiful that side arm is.

No need to duck. We all have our preferences, and I never engage in caliber wars either. LOL

I like the Dan Wesson custom grips too (I paid extra), but I've learned to prefer the palm swell ergonomics of the Nill grips that I have on my single stack Sigs. That is why I had custom grips created to emulate Nill grips.
