A judge has granted Mickey Rooney a temporary restraining order from his stepson, who is accused in court filings of withholding food and medicine from the 90-year-old veteran actor and meddling in his personal finances.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz approved the stay-away order on Monday after attorneys for Rooney sought protection for the Academy Award-nominated actor, claiming he lives in fear of stepson Chris Aber.
"All I want to do is live a peaceful life, to regain my life and be happy," Rooney wrote in a statement. "I pray to God each day to protect us, help us endure, and guide those other senior citizens who are also suffering."
The order requires Aber to stay 100 yards away from Rooney and his home and to refrain from contacting the actor until a hearing on Feb. 24, when the restraining order may be extended. "Chris is verbally abusive toward Mickey," the court filing states. "He yells and screams at Mickey. He threatens, intimidates, bullies, and harasses Mickey.

maybe it’s the travails of being a star from a very young age.

Are we talking about Mike wallace?
I’ve always heard that Rooney is a jerk
You are right, everyone deserves to live in peace when they are older. It is truly a shame. Is Rooney reaping what he sowed? Who knows. But, I do hope he finds peace.
An enduring legend! What a talent!
I’m wondering if he’s still married to his wife Jan. Or is it a step son from another of the eight marriages, lol!?
The one man with more ex-wives than Larry King
I loved Mickey’s old movies when he was a kid.
****
1978, Rooney married Jan Chamberlin, his eighth wife. As of 2010[update], they live in Westlake Village, California. Both are outspoken advocates for veterans and animal rights.

Among movie crews, his reputation is such that they've named a camera dolly move after him. A "Mickey Rooney" is a short creep.
Is the alleged perp her son?
Well, wherever there's a will there's step-relatives relatives.
Yiikes! LOL

The storied cohorts whining against Mickey Rooney could be lined up all together and NEVER cough up even a measure of the morale, sheer joy, laughter, and talent that Rooney brought to Americans, young and old, here at home and those abroad during the War years. He remains a walking history of hard times, hard work and dedication to his craft, having to navigate through the hanger’s on and naysayers, ala the scandal sheets.
Thankfully he still has that same can-do spirit and plenty of feisty spit-in-your-eye American charactor (long gone today)to tackle one more hanger-on imposing himself on Rooney’s twilight years. What a guy, that Mickey. Good for him.
Disgraceful. Absolutely disgraceful behavior.
I hope he lives out the rest of his life with some peace. I don’t care if you weren’t the best father or the best husband in the world... no one deserves to be tormented when they are elderly. Just a thought.
A great film for childern: National Velvet. It also stared Elizabeth Taylor.
Probably the most talented individual Hollywood has ever known. Or at least in a tie with Judy Garland.
He has only been married 8 times.
One of his wives was Ava Gardner.
