Charlie Sheen needs to stay away from the sh*t for at least 6 months. If he can do that, he could at least say that for a period of time, he was not chemically dependent. If he goes back to it after just a couple of weeks, he’s probably an addict.
Another overpaid celebrity with too much time on his hands and utterly lacking in maturity. The guy has a hugely successful tv show which he is chronically in danger of losing. How stupid can he be? It’s not just the booze — it’s the broads and the idiotic behavior in general. He has some problems, but he’s not serious about getting help. He’s either going to hit rock bottom before he straightens out, or he is going to die at a young age. I would feel for the guy, but personally, I think it’s a waste to be sympathetic until he makes some sincere effort to get his chit together.

I think his opinion however is like that of a cult member who is still under the influence of his idol. Just my opinion of course but it is better to be a dull "live" person who used to have an exciting life drinking and doing drugs than a still exciting "dead" person (well, still exciting up until that visit to the morgue).
He is an addict regardless of his course of action.

Time to grow up, Chuckie. Pull your pants on, grow a pair, and be a man. The time for cutey-boy party-pig was back in your teens, twenties, or, really pushing it, thirties. Once you're past 40, it's time to start at least pretending that your set has descended, you've finally got some hair on 'em, and you know what it all means.
Typical Gollywood punk-assed frat-puke. He needs a serious attitude adjustment; someone should tune him like a friggin' Steinway Concert Grand. Either that, or at least neuter him so he can't reproduce... and strip him of all voting privileges. Dirtbags like this stool shouldn't even be allowed to vote for dogcatcher.

Not so much honest as occasionally frank, whichi is itself a rarity in showbiz.
Once the show finishes (and alas, it must be nearing the end of its run) and the money stops arriving, he’ll have whatever he’s banked, plus more time on his hands. It won’t end well, but at least we won’t be in suspense for long.

The longer a person is sober the less chemically dependent they are. The less chemically dependent they become, the less addicted they are. Therefore, a person who is no longer chemically dependent through prolonged total abstinence is no longer an addict. However, former addicts sometimes retain their addictive tendencies throughout periods of sobriety and will sometimes laspe back into an addiction and chemical dependency.
Tell me where that logic is flawed without using the psych-babble of the pop-psychology of the day.
Not all people are powerless to the extent that chemical dependency is inescapable and that addiction is “forever”.
If he doesn't grow up ASAP, life is about to strip him of ALL his privileges.

Alays priviledged and looked out for . In the past he has done many things that they would have tossed any average Joe in jail for, but his money always buys him out.
Bored? Certainly he is bored when sober, because he is a scumbag addict.
IMO alchohol and its pervasiveness is (from the psychological--not physical POV) a bit like a cult. Until you have been "deprogrammed," it is really hard to imagine a world on the outside.
As a good friend of mine who quit drinking when I quit says (another "moderate" drinker), "before quitting, I was just living from "cocktail hour to cocktail hour."
Maybe his fan base is getting bored with his infantile behavior and will desert him...that should sober him up.
Cemeteries & prisons are filled with people who thought that very same way.
In all due respect, I don't think scumbag is the correct term. Many decent people (including our men and women in uniform) become addicts when they suffer injuries and take pain medication for an extended time. Everyone I know breaks free, but they are not scumbags while they are still in the grasp of dependency.
In fact, I recently had a serious bicycling accident (I ride for exercise--I used to race as an amateur). After recovering from 3 broken ribs and a punctured/collapsed lung, I had to go through the standard withdrawal symptoms from the medication the doctor had me on.
It took the better part of the week for the withdrawal symptoms to leave...but I didn't think of myself as a "scumbag" during that week.
