With my Minolta 50mm f1.4.
I like it!
It's good for another 26 years.

Nothing to explain, politics isn't the only theme on Free Republic.Well, if we are going to go that route, what about FRebay. I have a Minolta SRT-202 with four lenses I'd like to get out of my bottom desk drawer.

Those lenses are in danger like that, they can grow fungus on the lens surfaces and be ruined. The fungus is in the air all the time but the interior of a lens is an ideal place for it to grow.

There’s more than one way to skin a cat, but it’s generally agreed that using a chainsaw is the quickest.

This shot is at f2.8, at f1.4 the DOF is paper thin.

The sharpness of her eyes make this a compelling image. I have a Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro that I just love. Of course, I spent about $595 more than you did.
 Here's a shot I made with it.

Swampy...the 1.4s that came out during the 70s and early-mid 80s were excellent lenses. Many offered almost macro capabilities during on camera focusing as well as truly excellent resolution during enlargement while printing. With the appropriate enlarger lenses, of course.
Competition was stiff and measuring methods were well developed at that time. The photo magazines as well as the technical papers all were quick to post what lenses were good and which ones were known to offer color aberrations, barrel effects and drop-off at the fringes as well as bad lens-body lock-up and aberrations at reduced apertures.
It was truly a time when all the makers(marques) put out their best efforts and the photo-public was well served with the results.

Sony probably made a mistake when they continued using the Minolta A mount, all the great old Maxxum lenses are in competition with Sony lenses.
You can get a lot of bang for the buck though and I take advantage of it.
The trend now is smaller and lighter but I don't mind a little extra weight and bulk.
Minolta glass is hard to beat for color, even with the older type coatings.

Is that your kitty? (or should I say are you her slave?) Either way, pretty cat!

    Another good one SS.
That old 50mm makes a nice 75mm portrait lens on your Sony.
But since your using off camera 'Studio Lighting', try one at f/5.6 and focus on Pandora's nose. It may come out a tad 'better' (Histogram reading) than this one at f/2.8 (very flat).
If you have time that is. And your Model cooperates ;-)
