California man killed by armed bird at cockfight

DELANO, Calif. (AP) -- A California man attending a cockfight has died after being stabbed in the leg by a bird that had a knife attached to its own limb.

The Kern County coroner says 35-year-old Jose Luis Ochoa was declared dead at a hospital about two hours after he suffered the injury in neighboring Tulare County on Jan. 30.

The cock fights I've attended had the “ref” pass a fresh lime over each blade prior to the start, to remove any poisons. Also cocks frequently turn from the fight when gravely injured, at this point the owner steps in and breaks their neck, all the while exhibiting great disgust that his macho image has been maligned by the chicken turned “chicken”.

You must have heard and read wrong. One's leg does not = one's femur.
