Every one who knows me, or has read my articles knows that I disagree with Darwin's theory of evolution. However, this post is not about the debate between evolution and creation. This post is about those individuals around the world who yield to the idea that natural selection could possibly be a fact by attempting to or actually succeeding in removing themselves from the human gene pool. Thus by their actions, they seem to ensure that the next generation will be less susceptible to being the last generation to live on what Carl Sagan called the "Pale Blue Dot", or better known as planet earth.

Now idiots don’t die because they do something stupid. They aren’t allowed to do anything and if it IS slightly dangerous, they are covered head to toe in protective gear.....Maybe, the Darwin thing did contain an element of truth-—about adaptation to environment.

Very good point, we do seem to overprotect our children.

Kind of reminds me of the old tale of the mother who never allowed her child to walk to school or go anywhere alone. The mother was so worried her child may get hurt if it is unaccompanied by an adult. As the story goes, the child reaches 16 and is allowed to walk to school alone for the first time in their life. You can guess what happens, the teenager walks across the street and gets hit and killed by a car.

Two lessons, children need to learn how to adapt to their environment, as you say. Also, when a parent is so worried about a child getting injured they will, because we all get hurt fgrowing up and that is how we learn not to do the same stupid thing again and again.

Unless your a liberal, then you are probably suffering from insanity because you keep on repeating the same action while expecting a different result.

I don't think this 'nominee' actually qualifies for a Darwin Award.

The Darwin Awards has very explicit rules enumerated on the History and Rules page, wherein may be found the Reproduction clause which states (in part):

The candidate must remove herself from the gene pool.

The prime tenet of the Darwin Awards is that we are celebrating the self-removal
of incompetent genetic material from the human race. Therefore, the potential winner
must be deceased, or at least incapable of reproducing. The traditional method is death.
However, an occasional rebel opts for sterilization, which allows her more time to enjoy
the dubious notoriety of winning a Darwin Award. If someone manages to survive an incredibly stupid feat, then her genes de facto
must have something to offer in the way of luck, agility, or stamina. She is therefore
not eligible for a Darwin Award, but sometimes the story is too entertaining to pass up,
and she earns an Honorable Mention.

You live in Minnesota?

I am guessing from your name and your reply, because almost every lake in Minnesota freezes down to anywhere from a foot to four or more for most of the winter, and if you don’t bring up your dock, it will get crushed. Unless it’s cement.

You know this would have been really funny if he had been texting when he walked off the dock.

He was lucky he didn't go through feet first -- would have scraped his hoo-hoo clean off.

Boys have pee-pees, girls have hoo-hoos, but after the shrinkage, he probably felt like he had a hoo hoo

There are many youtube videos that are Flash. A conversation about flash support on the iPad is as emotional as a religious conversation. I’ve been told that the iPad is great the way it is, there isn’t enough flash out there and sites should be converting to HTML5, and I don’t really need it. Don’t ask for more because SJ gave exactly what we need and the iPad is the end all be all. I love the device, warts and all, but the Apple culture is another thing.
