Rush just opened his show with a long monologue about Gov. Abercrombie of Hawaii not being able to find O's long form birth certificate.

Brought up the possibility that the lack of a birth cert is real...or, a very elaborate Dem hoax. It sounds like Rush is a closet birther... This is huge for 2012.

If Obama plays that the game, which many Dems hope he doesn't because it could do a lot of damage, the Dems would then have to defend, “If Obama was willing to play that game, what other games is he playing with the American people?”.

I don’t think the FEC has any jurisdiction on this matter. I think they mainly regulate the campaign money and IIRC, Obama refused federal money anyway, which meant he had no real oversight.

I think they have only gotten so far as to put forward bills for the respective state legislatures to consider. Passing them will really crimp Obama's style. Even one state that he doesn't resolve will leave irreparable stink on his campaign.

The fishy part is that former director Fukino claimed to have seen an original birth certificate, along with registrar Alvin T. Onaka, Ph.D. Abercrombie obviously cannot show that record to the public and the ledger entry is something he doesn’t want to show either. Let’s keep in mind, he was vowing to show up the so-called birthers by backing up his buddy Obama and now this only came up because a reporter asked him about the status of this mission. Abercrombie sounded very hesitant to talk about it and he carefully parsed how he answered the question. They don’t have jack squat to back up Obama.

And so the excuse for not being able to display it physically is the docs/records must have gotten misplaced when Fukino et al left as the new regime is now coming in.

Or is Jon Klein’s statement going to be the new narrative.

I HAVE considered it and still do. I’d be as chuffed as anyone if that were the case. But would a Democratic governor be allowed to make a scene about this and then come up empty if it really had the potential to blow up the Obama presidency? I tend to think not.

After catching half an hour of Rush on my lunch break, I think one of his callers made a good point: This could be a ploy to whip conservatives into what can be protrayed as an unhinged frenzy of racism and conspiracy theories just in time for the State of the Union. Imagine the contrasting images, if you will: On one side, Obama, looking composed and presidential as he lays out his plans for the coming year. On the other side, some crazed right-wingers yammering about birth certificates. Do not underestimate the power of imagery, especially for the party that controls the mainstream media.

I’m not saying this is the correct interpretation. I’m saying - exercise caution. Do not play into their hands.

I will tell you what other games he is playing: he makes onerous laws for all of us to live under (healthcare), then he plays hardball with his friends, and if they play by his game (probably with bribes) he allows them to be exempted from the rules. That’s how over 200 companies were exempted from the healthcare law. It’s pretty sneaky.

Birthers have not lost anything if Obama is proven to be eligible.

If he is proven not to be eligible ? that they violated the US Constitution and that they ( the MSM, the DNC, Obama's people ) committed fraud, then ? they better lawyer up.

Suppose you and Rush are both correct and there is a concerted effort to further distort this issue and in doing so, make “birthers” look bad. I suggest that it would have a severely negative impact on Obama. How could a Constitutional scholar possibly defend the portrayal of an outright Constitutional crisis in America as fodder used against his opponents to discredit them? This issue certainly isn't to be taken lightly (as it has until now). There most certainly is something rotten in Washington and it (and its wife) have taken up residence on Pennsylvania Avenue.

As I read the speculation on this subject one thing comes to mind; Obama has continually displayed his arrogance over intelligence; as have Pelosi and Reid. They have continually made statements that cause conservative jaws to drop nationwide and do so unchecked by the MSM. I firmly believe that this same arrogance is what Obama has relied on when it comes to the eligibility matter. If enough steam gets behind this issue and it boils over, I believe it will take him down.

I think you need to realize that laws only apply to the little people and Republicans. American citizens appear to have no standing - they are just taxed and their treasury gets looted.

The Obama birth story was begun by Politifact, the political blog at the St. Petersburg Times in Florida.

They were researching an email rumor about Obama's name, and searched public records to debunk the rumor. It was only when they reported that the Obama campaign refused to provide the newspaper with a birth certificate that the "birther" scandal began.

From April 18, 2008: No Muhammed or Mohammed in Obama's name

We have now searched every public record we can access and find nothing to support the notion that Obama has a second middle name of "Muhammed" or "Mohammed."

We have a copy of Obama's marriage certificate from the Cook County Bureau of Vital Statistics in Illinois.

We looked at Obama's driver's license record in the state of Illinois...

We searched property records for Obama...

We also found Obama's registration and disciplinary record with the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois.

We tried to obtain a copy of Obama's birth certificate, but his campaign would not release it and the state of Hawaii does not make such records public.
